Thanks so much for your concern ... I don't think it's severe, but I don't know how long until it gets better. As I said "over there," it's on the front of my knee, not the inside/middle. I'm icing a lot. Walking isn't a problem, just going down stairs.

I have a trip planned (ie, paid for -- yikes) in 2 weeks; I'm not panicking yet. But it's kind of the same as it has been for 2 or 3 days, no better, no worse. I plan on taking it easy this weekend, and then I'll reassess.

Anyone "over here" familiar with tendon injuries? I've been trying to research it, can't find too much. Most info is on a ruptured tendon or tendonitis ... this is neither. I'm still not positive it's the patellar tendon, but that's what hurts.

My Husband has had complete reconstruction on both knees. Torn ACL in both the left and right knee plus torn MCL in the right knee plus cartilage damage in both. Do yourself a favor and get it checked out by a good orthopedic doctor. My concern is that you could give yourself a second injury becuse of the first injury. If the knee is weak and painful you could take a fall while skiing and injure yourself even further. I have seen it happen. Knees carry so much weight and stress during skiing you don't want to make things worse. I know how you feel about your trip I had a ski trip canceled by the my husband's last knee injury. He is fully recovered from both and still skis!!

Good Luck

I thought my knee was fine after a fall and a "pop" on St Patrick's Day. That is until I got stuck between the washer and dryer in the basement with no one else home  . I hobbled gently down the stairs (1 week after the accident mind you) to do laundry....then dropped the stain stick between the washer and dryer and bent down to grab it. The knee collapsed and I was stuck there for over an hour. Literally couldn't get myself out! :D The next day I saw the family physician, 2 days later the ortho. Surgery for a complete ACL tear on the Friday before Memorial Day...back on skis in December.

Get it checked out! We all hope it's nothing serious, but better safe than sorry!

Well, for an update, I've been feeling about the same, no better or no worse. I'm resting, icing, blah blah blah. Not much pain, but it's hard to go up and down the stairs. Bearing weight while the knee is bent, or bending it, causes pain.

I wake up this morning and decide I'm probably screwed, since it's been 4 days and no improvement, and I think tendons are kind of slow to heal. Since I'm here at home and NOT skiing, I took the kids to church.

After I got home from church, my knee felt markedly better. I think I'll try to go tomorrow and the next day, as well. ;)

But seriously, I still plan on calling the doctor tomorrow (if he's open?), unless I'm totally better. I can go up the stairs just fine now, and going down is much easier. I still have to do a funny little hop, though.

Best wishes for a quick recovery. Good call on trying to see the doctor tomorrow if you aren't feeling totally better.
