O8/09 Auras

Im curious how many of you girls who have seen the new top sheet on the auras totally hate it? I see that everyone seems to be in love with that ski and I agree but the top sheet next year has this like half naked chinese woman on it.. will you still buy it or will you pick the pearls or kikus instead?

I actually don't totally hate it. I wish the woman was a bit more covered up (just don't see the point), but other than that, I think the graphics are very cool.

In any event, I wouldn't let that keep me from buying the skis. For me, it's performance first, graphics second. If I love a ski, I'm going to buy it, no matter what. However, if I were on the fence and liked another ski just as much, I'd go with the one whose graphics I preferred.

I hated it the first time I saw it. And the second. And the third. But its growing on me. I still like the '07 topsheet best (green and wood) but I'm actually looking forward to the new ones. It's an amazing ski, so... I'm going to buy it. I'm not much of a pink person, but I'm looking forward to accessorizing to match. (There is a difference between buying a ski for graphics and changing your wardrobe because you bought awesome skis and they dont match, right....? =) )

I'm on the fence with that graphic. I've only seen pictures, and sometimes a graphic has a whole new feel in person. There's always been woman on the Aura....in '07 she had a gun, but was fully clothed, in '08 she was more stylized and looked sort of like a Ninja, now in '09...I don't know. I think she's supposed to be a Japanese Ninja? Don't know. Too many women's skis have used the black/pink theme; that's why I liked the older graphics better.

But if it skis great, it shouldn't stop anyone from buying it.

I never worried to much about graphics, I guess because I happened to like the ones on the skis I liked.

But I actually upsized my Queen Attivas due to graphics. You all know that I love my Auras; but I wanted something a little shorter and softer (but not as short as my current QAs) for certain days.

I looked around to find other skis, but I realized how much I liked the graphics on the QAs compared to everything else.

Yeah. I just don't like the graphics on the 08-09 auras. Way too pink for me as I'm a very un-pink person. I think the first year (06-07) was the best graphics and I'm hoping to get a pair of those. Especially since the ski hasnt' changed at all since it was introduced. So my say is I wouldn't avoid getting a ski that was great, except for the graphics if that ski made me smile, but if I was on the fence then it might influence me more.

Wow - guess I'm the square peg here...I love the new graphics. I love that it's really one graphic for 2 skis. It's so cartoon-ish that I don't really think the "sexy factor" is an issue. I didn't even notice she wasn't covered up really. I'll have to look again. And the black on pink is way better than last year's white ski. I think the new graphics are edgy & fun!

That being said - mine are already on pre-order & should arrive in November!!

I think she's supposed to be a Geisha.

Aside from the v-neck going a little low...the rest of her body is covered in a kimono or something - so I'm still a little confused about the sexy factor.

Hey, those pink ladies actually look pretty cool on the snow. My SO has a pair, and they're quite the conversation starter.

Anyway, unless a topskin promoted a hateful message, I would never pass up a ski for the way it looks. FWIW, I skied the HellBents for most of the season and got to listen to a lot of negative comments about the graphics. Shrug...

IMO, the 08/09 Auras have a nice look to them.

I am not really a pink person, but I think these are kinda fun. And I hated the white.

Yep, she's a Geisha. Actually, after another look, I like them. Some people might not even notice there's a woman there unless they look closely (like, on the chairlift). So, it's kind of artsy.

However, the chick wearing the bellbottoms and sporting the Uzi is more my kind of gal. (not that I'm a big gun advocate...she just looks cool....think chicks on skis with guns, AKA biathletes).

I'm not a pink person either. More than anything I really liked the green tones of two years ago, like Pinto and Volklgirls version.

Still, the graphix won't be my reason to buy or not buy a ski.
Maybe they'll grow on me, but then I am thinking I'll be on my bros and mostly harts in the future so I won't have to worry about the Aura Graphix.

I shop for skis based on the quality of the ski first, but the look matters to me too. If the topsheet really annoys or offends me, I won't buy the ski. I think the '09 topsheet is very cool, just a little young and flashy for me. Perfect for a 27 year old "ski bum" in Aspen though! I like the '07 model too but shy away from the presence of the gun. My favorites are the '08 Auras, which I own. I love the topsheet, though I may be the only Diva who does. I do worry losing one though when I ski them on pow days, but since I ski primarily in the East on pre-scheduled days, it's not as much of an issue, sadly. And if they turn over after coming off, it will help me find them since they're bright pink underneath.

At next year's Diva Summit, we'll need a photo of the "Diva Aura" club with our '07, '08, and '09 Auras!
