Nordica Olympia Conquer

So...this was a while ago...I knew my January/February would be busy, but not that busy! And now here it is-March already! Luckily in Colorado, there's still plenty of skiing to be had!
Anyway, I got my chance to take my time with these during a New Year's trip to meet up with my family in Steamboat. (Great trip, will post a TR later) I ended up demoing the Conquers for 2 days. Stats: me: int/adv skier, skis: Nordica Olympia Conquer 162cm.
It was well worth it! The first day was a complete and wonderful Steamboat powder day! These skis gave me the confidence to take on that powder that was past my knees! Even at the end of the day when the snow got all tracked up, this ski didn't even complain. Not an actual fat powder ski of course, but it's more than enough for the occasional powder day.
Second day was beautiful but really cold, but we got some fresh groomed corduroy out of it! These skis are great at cruising at high speeds and will bust through rougher conditions. I took these skis through a lot that day, from the glades to some fun steep hardpack, and they made me feel like a conqueror! :ski2:
The only thing negative that I found is that when you're tired at the end of the day, these skis might rattle you around a little when you don't feel like keeping up with them, but it wasn't too bad.
After spending 2 days on them, I think I found my perfect match! Thanks to all the other Divas who have reviewed and recommended these skis for demoing! Now for the summer sales...hehe...:eyebrows:

PS-Sorry this is in the wrong place...meant to post it in reviews...haha...spacey day. (SD, feel free to move it)

I demo'd 9 pairs of skiis this season and I surprisingly ended up
with the Nordica conquers.I demo'd these twice and kept coming back to them. I was in the market for an all mountain ski.
When the powder got deep in Kirkwood, I was skiing a freestyle ski (soft and narrow) which did not cut the muster. The conquerors are a well made ski they are wide enough at the tip and rear to stay up in the powder , the waist is narrow enough to make turning easy. Great groomer ski. They're heavy enough to cutt right through any crud. There probably not a great mogul skii because they are stiff. They are made for advanced skiers. You have to lean forward and stay on top of them or they shoot right out in front of you. Great skii overall
they truly conquer the mountain.

!! My only complaint is the graphics. The figure of the Women on the skii's boobs are pointy. And, at the front of the Marker binding is an SE model , but then its right next to the Marker logo which is an elongated "x" sooo my 11 year old son immediately pointed out that my skiis say "SEX" . I have yet to find a sticker
to cover up these binding graphics. For such a great skii for women it's insulting. I hear Nordica is changing the graphics next year.

Hi Dirtdiva,

Thanks for your review! They are definitely a solid ski!
And I agree with you about the graphics...good to hear that they'll be changing them next year. I love the ski, but don't want those graphics on there, especially while on ski trips as a leader for the youth group I work with...it's just not appropriate when skiing with a bunch of Jr. high kids!! (oh those raging hormones!!)

Recently purchased a pair of last year's blue Nordica Conquers, based solely on reviews rather than demoing them. Skied them for the first time yesterday and today. Conditions were variable, ranging from icy, hardpack, corn, and slush, sometimes all of them during the same run - spring conditions at Mammoth Mtn., CA. The skis like to track fast in a straight line and really cut through the crud.

Skis perform well in all conditions and easily transition between different types of snow. I really like them - can't wait to try them in powder next winter! I suspect they won't do that well in moguls, but then again neither do I, having broken my tibia last winter. I also have K2 Lotta Luvs which are very forgiving and do well in moguls. :ski2:

I have next years, and can't wait to try them. No SnowHot I can't make next weekend in Colorado. It's not a holiday in Canada. But they are definately coming with me to Colorado next year!!

Hi skibum4ever: Jan. 2nd-3rd 2009 I got to try the Nordica Olympia Conquer in powder . They are really sweet in the normal powder and powder crud. We received 10"-12" of fluff at Kirkwood not the lightest stuff, yet the skiis did great I'm very happy with the amount the width in the tip and side cutt under the foot :thumbs up:. Now I've skii'd with them in almost all conditions. My only complaints are the graphics(see earlier post) and they are heavy, but that makes them cutt through crud and so stable on groomers.

Thanks for the info, dirtdiva. I skied my Conquers today at Vail and was again impressed by their versatility. Packed powder, powder, trees, bumps. I'm particularly impressed by how well I can ski them in the bumps and trees despite the fact that they have a pretty wide turn radius.

Oh, speaking of stability on the groomers. Today at Vail they had groomed Blue Ox, a "double diamond" which is really not that difficult when groomed. It was the steepest skiing I've done this season so far. Hubby was racing down with a man he had met, and he was only 2 chairs ahead of me when I got back on the lift. He was amazed to see me get off the chair just behind him!

I also own a pair of 95 waist K2 Phat Luvs. I've been trying to decide which of the 2 pairs of skis should stay in CO and which should return with me to ski Mammoth, which gets pretty much the same type of snow as Tahoe. Your comments have made my decision easier. I think I will take the Conquers back to CA and leave the Phat Luvs in CO. I might enjoy the Phat Luvs a bit more in fresh powder, but the powder gets tracked out really quickly at Mammoth so you end up mainly skiing crud. I think that Phats will get pushed around more by the crud because they are so light. I learned today that Vail crud is a lot more fun than Mammoth crud, and the Phats should ski chopped up light snow just fine. Not so sure about bumps and trees, though. I may get to test the Phats on this trip if we get a decent dump.

Thanks again for your comments. :snow:

Based on my search for suitable skis I come across this thread several months ago, joined the Ski Divas and ordered a pair of Nordica Olympia Conquers from the US (older model 08 I think with the naked lady graphic about $US550 inc postage to Australia - they are asking $1200 for the same model here!) 154cm. (I'm 5'2", 112lb). From the research I thought these would be ideal in Australian conditions - what they call powder here is rarely the fluffy stuff of the northern hemisphere. I've been skiing Rossignol B2 148cm for similar conditions.

Finally the opportunity arose for me to ski them last Sunday at Mt Hotham. There had been about 30 cm fresh over the 4-5 days previous and heaps of WIND. Sunday was again windy - the temp had finally dropped to about -4 and there was about 6cm overnight. As a result there were wind swept patches of icy and soft, so by picking the best bits you could get bursts of fresh stuff, and tracks quickly covered by the wind but always on the ready for the icy patch under or between , and total ice at the ridges.

The Conquers? ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC ... I'm an advancing intermediate to advanced skier and I think I skied the best I have ever skied, even given the constant variation in the terrain. They hung on the ice, they pushed through the crud and bounced through the lighter stuff. I LOVE them!

Thanks fellow Diva's for taking the time to post your opinions - it has really paid off for me.

So glad you loved your Conquers! I've skied them, too, and think they're terrific.

Great to hear of another Diva loving the Conquers. It is surprising to me that this ski is so under the radar. I too bought it without demoing first, and was really happy with my purchase. That's what makes this forum so worthwhile!

Nordica's women skis are great. It seems K2 and Volkl have done better jobs of marketing their skis as I see many more women out on the hill with them. K2 and Vokl skis are great also -but the Nordicas don't get the publicity that the other 2 have received. Not sure why. Glad you enjoyed them.

So glad so many other Divas are loving their Conquers! They do seem under-advertized, but I don't mind; it makes them more unique. I haven't been on in a while, so a little update... I found a great deal on last year's Conquers at the end of the season and got to ski one day on them at Abasin. It was a total blast! They handled every condition amazingly well and were so stable and just plain fun! It was definitely one of my most fun ski days ever, so I'm looking forward to many more great days this season! Bring on the snow! (yes, I'm a little eager):D
