Ski Diva Extraordinaire
I just bought a new pair of boots and I want to make sure I made a wise purchase before I use them---buyer's post-purchase anxiety.
My foot: very wide forefoot due to bunions; narrow heel; high arch. I have Superfeet to support the arch.
5'5" tall; 175 pounds
Age 54
Level: high intermediate; low expert on good snow. I've only been skiing 4 years but I'm athletic and I hope to raise my skiing up a notch each year until I'm comfortable on most single black trails. I don't have any aspirations of doing double blacks, though. Not interested in racing. I'm a cautious skier, not deliberately aggressive.
Skis: Head Intelligence iM.
Snow: Northeast, so not much powder; groomed only.
I ski twice a week.
Old boots: Nordica F9.2 women's. To keep my feet from sliding around, I was having to buckle them so tight that my circulation was strangled. I took them for new fitting last year and again this year because they were packing out so much I didn't feel safe. This is their 3rd season.
The fitter immediately remarked that this boot had too much volume, especially for my narrow heel. That explains why we were constantly adding padding.
Also, my instructors were noticing that this boot is very stiff with almost no flex.
So today I bought the Lange Exclusive 70. I couldn't afford anything more than that.
The Lange seems to fit ok---I can achieve a reasonably close fit with the buckles at moderate tension, rather than really tight as with the Nordicas.
MY QUESTIONS, if you know the Lange Exclusive 70:
1) Is this generally the right boot for my age, level, etc.?
2) Is the flex right for me? I've read in this forum that the Lange Exclusive 100 is a soft boot; and the 70 is softer. It's way softer than the Nordica F 9.2. How do you know when you have too much or too little flex?
3) How will this Lange ski different from my current Nordicas?
I can't find any reviews of the Lange Exclusive because it's a new boot this season.
THANK YOU!!!
