Nordica Conqueror vs. Volkl AC 3

Debbie S

I demo'd both the Nordica Conqueror and Volkl AC3 last weekend up in the Sierra's (along with the Nordica Victory). The conditions were horrible, with icey slopes. I loved the Conqueror. Felt like it helped me get forward on the ski. They had a nice pop and the turns were effortless; it really griped the ice. I like the AC3's as well. Really nice edge to edge and great on the ice too. I came back ready to buy the Nordica and then started reading some of the reviews. It sounds like they are really more of a powder ski, which is definitely not the conditions we have.

I'm 5'4" and 125, 47, very athletic and wanting to improve on the moguls. I also just want a good all around ski.

Any thoughts?

You picked out two great skis to demo!

I'm not a gear head, but I think you're right about the Nordicas. From what I've read, they are more of a powder ski. But Nordicas are known for being good performers on groomers and hard pack, too. And if you liked them, why not go for 'em (unless, of course, you like the Volkls better)?

What size's did you try? Were they the women's version or the unisex version?

I've been looking at the AC3s since I can find them a lot cheaper than the Lotta Luvs (I was also able to Demo them earlier this year) - very glad to hear they do well on the icy conditions.
