next up, your HELMET!

so, thanks for playing along about the boots. I found it very interesting to see all the differences in preference and in fit.

So, next up are helmets. I hate to admit this, but I don't have one. After our high speed collision last weekend, I've decided that it's just stupid not to wear one. I wear one on my bike so I guess I should wear one on the snow as well. Not to mention that everyone else here wears them and I wanna be one of the cool kids!

so, tell me which helmet your wearing and why you chose that over another one. Thanks!

Boeri!

I don't know the style or name, but it's silver.
I wear that one because it is the one that my family researched and bought for me, and it was recommended by my neurologist.

I'm very happy with it! :D

Boeri Vortex...cool white carbon color.

Finally make the plunge after being hit TWICE last year! :mad2:
No physical injuries thank goodness, but always looking over my shoulder and tensing up when I heard others come behind me.
Besides the obvious benefits...it is now my pyschological seat belt.

This model fits me great...is very lightweight...and warm in the colder weather. I love my helmet.

I have a Giro Fuse (the white-on-white leopard print) with Tuneups added on. I tried on several different brands, and the Giro helmets fit me best--no surprise, as the Giro cycling helmets also work best for me.

I think mine's a Leedom. And I chose it because it was the only one I tried on that didn't smoosh my ears!

I actually got two new helmets this year. First I got a Giro Fuse. A nice helmet and very cool looking -- it has a very subtle leopard print on it! But it had a little too much ventilation for my taste.

Even with the vents closed, I was cold when it got really frigid out. So I ended up getting a Boeri Tactic helmet, which I think is warmer and a bit more comfortable.

I also picked up ear pieces for the Boeri that are wired for sound. Cool!

I have a Giro G10 which I like okay but I kinda wish I hadn't bought black. And I wish it wasn't so darn hot. It's very rare that my head is cold in it and if I add a balaclava then even on cold days my head sweats. But it's super comfortable and I like the venting switch on the top.

I was a non-helmet skier till this year. I finally gave in at the beginning of the season and bought a Giro G9 (silver). It is definitely warmer than a ski hat!

it was your post about the ear pieces that made me wonder what everyone had on their noggins.

What color, too warm or not warm enough are good things to know as well.

Thanks Divas, you rock :becky:

I've had 3 helmets in the past 7 years. The last one is the best. First helmet was a Boeri - looks like a bowling ball, but it fit. Second was the Salomon Siam. White with white fuzzy ears. See my avitar. Had problems with goggles, so bought the newer version this year - Salomon Icon. Its black with white ears. Can't say I've used the vents yet - its been too cold up here.

I have a Giro G10. I got that one because after trying on many brands and models, it was the one that fit the best! I really like it; it's very comfortable for me and my head is never cold in it. It can be a little warm though on spring days, even with the vents open.

I have a Boeri...don't know which model. It's burgandy in color and it is what fit my head at the time.

I do wear a skull cap or balaclava under it on frigid days. On normal "cold" days, I have to wear turle fur ear warmer thingy (I don't know what it's called..obviously) to keep my ears warm. I will admit, my head was warmer with my great hats, but not safer!

Oh, and since it is a "plain" helmet, I have decorated it w/ stickers, so it is truly my own!

Giro Fuse, with the skull candy, and my head has never been cold! I love it so much I bought a spare to have when mine needs to be replaced!

Leedom Scream, full plastic over ears, for very cold days
Leedom Scream Cut - with removable ear covering, for average temps

pending: from SAC, Giro Fuse, lighter in color (silver?), lots of vents, hope it's my "spring" helmet

(Leedoms both purchased in 02-03, a bit dated and bowling-ball-looking, but have served me well and fit great)

I wear a full microfleece balaclava underneath in cold weather but skip it if warmer.

Giro Fuse in matte black (think that's the color). I had a G9 before, but it was too big, so I went to a small in the Fuse, perfect! Plenty warm and I can open the vents if need be. I also have a Giro cycling helmet...guess I have a round Giro head : )

Giro G9 here as well, in white. Not my first choice of color, but it's what they had in a small when I was looking. Since it's the end of the season, I should be looking for a different color on sale.
