Another sunny day in the Cragieburns and after a busy weekend taken up with other comittments I happily made my way back to Porters to try and make friends with the Marker Griffon X bindings that are on my new Blaze 94's .... hard to say if I love the ski or not as I HATE the bindings, so much so that I'm going to switch them out for a pair of Atomic Wardens that are currently on a pair of my sons old ski's but which are going to get whipped off pretty quickly. I spoke with 2 other people today who also dislike them so I'm not going mad as I orginally thought :laughter:

Firm chalky winter snow was the order of the day with the odd little pocket of soft and I'm picking it will be the same tomorrow ... different day, same rodeo.

Anyhow @DebbieSue I just had a realisation, when you make it over here you might be able to get a good deal on any of the 2027 ski's as we get ours before you and they just might be going on sale so something to keep in the back of your mind x

Thanks for the tip. I just got new skis, Volkl Mantra84W last May, so not in the market. I will be renting (bringing own boots though) which will be a good chance to try models I haven’t been on to inform future purchases.

Oh no! Shades of the horrible Marker Squire binding that were on the original 2011 Blizzard Black Pearl.

You’re smart to get this done quickly—happier runs ahead.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement, I'm just waiting for our local ski shop to get back to me as to when they can do it. I never really gave much thought to bindings ... until now

What is it about the bindings that you don't like, @AJM ? You commented that they are "super responsive and have kicked me into touch a couple of times," but I'm not quite sure what you mean . . .

Its hard to describe, they just feel "off" and twitchy. Both times they "kicked me into touch" it was the outside edge of the inside ski that grabbed and sent me flying. I spoke with the ski shop yesterday and I'm heading in to get them switched over tomorrow.

Are you A framing? The outside edge, should be higher than the inside edge if your skis are on edge. For the outside edge to catch, the ski would have to be flat or tipped on the outside edge.

It was the outside edge of the inside ski. The opposite of A framing. It caught me by surprise as I'm still working on lightening that inside leg so for it grab like that and whisk me off was enough to send me flying. Jumped back on the trusty K2's today and had a glorious day on firm chalky cold winter snow which I didnt want to drag myself away from but my legs were done :laughter:
