New Ski Recommendations?

Wow! I found this site while I was googling new skiis and I was wondering if you great ladies could help me with new ski advice? I am 5'6" and about 130lbs. I learned to ski in college and then took a few year off having my 3 babies. For the last 4 years I have been on the bunny hill teaching my 3 to ski and using a pair of (now kinda beat up) Salomon Verse 500s.

The kids are all in school full days so I got a midweek pass to adult ski paradise (woohoo!) at the local resort. I am so excited to ski with my hubby again. He just got a new pair of Apache Recon's (spoiled) I have been looking at the K2 One Luvs, but I was wondering what recommendations anyone might have for a comparable or better ski from other manufacturers. I am confident skiing any groomer and off piste as long as it's not frighteningly steep. Not quite a double diamond skiier yet, but I plan to change that with my midweek pass this year!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome to the forum, jnmcarroll!

It's a lot of fun to look at new skis. Hope you plan to demo, though -- that's really the best way to determine which ski is best. Where do you ski (better yet, where is "adult ski paradise?" Love the term!)? Are you an east coast skier, where it's icier, or do you ski out west?

Also, how are your boots? If your skis are old and beat, are your boots the same way? That's really the best place to start.

Ditto the boots needing to be addressed first. And ditto the need to demo. You might want to choose an on-mountain ski shop that lets you pay one fee for multiple demos thru the day for back-to-back comparisons. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. I live in Eastern Washington so we ski primarily E. Wa and N. Idaho resorts (Schweitzer, Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass and Mt. Spokane-where we bought our midweek passes). :ski2: I usually can find nice powder somewhere. It's rare for me to be on ice. I also want something that performs well on groomers though, for when I am skiing with the kids.

Fortunately for me  my old ski boots were stolen last year so I bought a pair of Salomon Ellipse 9.0's that seem to be performing well (and keeping my feet a lot warmer than my old cheapies.)

Vail Gal: If you don't mind me asking, what kind of terrain do you like to ski and where do you think the One Luv's perform best?

Thanks for all the input!

Got the LOTTAS!

:D Headed down this morning to the local ski shop to get the One Luv's I was planning to purchase. I was just there yesterday afternoon looking at them, but of course someone came in and bought the last pair in my size last night. (To pour salt on my wound the owner said she bought them because they matched her boots the best--ugh!) So the owner worked me a great deal on the Lotta's so I didn't go away dissapointed. I ended up getting a brand new '08 pair of Lotta Luv's for $679 (including mount, wax, etc.). I think I got a decent deal....I am soooo excited to try them.

It is killing me that I am commited to go sledding with extended family tomorrow when I could be skiing the fresh powder on my new skiis. Oh well, maybe Monday.
