Well, I was talking about it, and here it is! I had a meeting this morning so I was up early, off to work <I usually work til 9 on monday's> early, so I was able to leave early.

I thought I'd stop by the bike shop on the way home... and what do you know, they still had the bike I was checkin' out!

It's nothing fancy, I just plan on riding around town and in the metropark on unpaved & paved flat trails... here it is!! My new Schwinn!

I can't believe it... new skis, new camera, new bike! I'm so thrilled, it's been a great start to the year!

That is exactly what I need. I think I'd add fenders too. I just want to ride around town, have tires that don't fit into the road grates and get caught and maybe a little carrier for things you pick up. And I like the colour. Have to look around for that make! I'm too old to take up MTB at this point.

I was looking at getting the Schwinn Cream cruiser too, but this made more sense. I love it.

I have to share... I just got back from riding it!!! Oh did I think I liked it before??? I LOVE THIS BIKE! :yahoo:

Okay, so I'm out of shape... it let me feel it, but not bad. Sure, my thighs know that I just did something, and being that I had a sweatjacket on, I'm sweating pretty good... but the whole time I had this wicked smile on my face <still do> because for the first time in a long time, my back didn't hurt and I felt really comfortable on a bike.

One word.... LOVE!

Are you sure your seat is high enough? It looks pretty low. You want it high enough that your leg is straight with your heel on the pedal at its lowest point in the rotation. Otherwise, you don't get a full pedal stroke and your quads or knees will be killing you.

Yep, it's high enough. I raised the seat a bit from the picture. I took that as soon as I got home from the bike shop after I put the front wheel back on.

When I went out riding it, I couldn't get the seat to stay up  <my last bike is 15 years old, and been in the same position forever>.

Once I finally figured it out, I found a good height, and my leg extends straight and that's when the wicked smiling started.

The frame is actually a small. Although for my height, I could have got the medium, I have short legs. I actually have a friend who is 5'4" <I'm 5'7", but 5'8" with shoes on> and our hips are at the same height... darn long torso! So the small works well for me.

While all of you ladies are out mountain biking tearing it up, think of a cheesy 70's song with me just pedaling along happily like a goofball! :ROTF:

It's the woman's 2008 Voyageur GS.

I'll be honest, I don't know the specs on it, I just know I like it, it rides well, and it's comfortable!! HAHA!

Hey, anytime I'm on a bike is a good time. I just built up a cruiser singlespeed for tooling around town, and it's really fun! It's great to be able to jump on the bike wearing jeans and flipflops and still be comfortable.

Cool bike!

Thanks! And I know what you mean. I had my eye on a cruiser too... maybe next year!

Tradygirl, how you doing?? What's going on with your arm?

I've got both a road and mountain bike, but one ride I did that was a blast was on one of my sister's beach cruisers, down in Cape May, NJ.

Enjoy your new ride! Any kind of bike is a good one if it gets you out riding!

Thanks for asking! I'm still in a cast, although they gave me a shorter one last week that only goes up to mid-forearm. So now I have elbow mobility which is nice. Still working on getting full range of motion, but it's getting there. I can't really ride a bike, so I've been running instead. It's really not too bad - I just miss doing my normal workouts (I won't be able to do a push-up for months!) At least now I can start doing some plyometrics and lower body weight training.
