New iPhone app for skiing

This is either very cool or very OCD:

Software developer EuroSmartz has developed an application to enable iPhone users to track and replay their ski runs, view them on a Google map, record speed and altitude, and more.

SnowTrails is a new iPhone application from EuroSmartz that allows skiers and snowboarders to track their runs and more. (image: EuroSmartz) "SnowTrails will enable skiers and snowboarders to record all sorts of information about each of their runs this winter," says Ian Schenkel, Product Development Director at EuroSmartz. "They will be able to see what speed they are doing, what G force they pulled, altitude readings, jump airtime and much, much more. SnowTrails also has the unique ability to playback runs in real time or double time so skiers and snowboarders can compare runs and show their friends what route they took and top speed they hit, as well as how many G’s they pulled!"

Units may be displayed in both miles and kilometers per hour, and preferences may be switched between ski and snowboard. Users can save and name each run for playback and comparison. “We enjoy our winter sports and we were disappointed to find that nothing was available that really enabled us to capture our blasts down the mountain," says Schenkel. "With the power of the iPhone we saw this as the perfect platform to build this exciting application so that skiers and snowboarders can enjoy their runs down the mountain again and again.

Don't have time to download it right now but I'm going to take a look at tonight. Christmas Day at Vail on record! :ski2:

I'm going to take a wild guess here that tech-geek DS already has this. If so, I will report back on its data-usefulness when I see it first-hand in action.

WOW! This sounds awesome! I am always wondering how many runs I actually fit into a full day at the mountain, and it would be great to track all this info right on my iPod . . . can't wait to test it out.

Anyone know the address to find the download?

Thanks

Yup, look for it in the app store -- it's $1.99 and there are two reviews at this point:
One, it sounds awesome, can't wait to try it, the other says it's junk, didn't save anything at all.

The screen shot looks good, if that's worth anything! I think I'll wait and see what a few more reviews say, but it does sound like a fun toy to add to my phone!
