New England wind issues

Saturday was a real bust at some locations. In Maine, Sugarloaf went on full wind hold, and they packed it in for the day at 11:00 a.m. - zero lifts ran, including the magic carpet (? ). Sunday River was on full hold for all lifts above the South Ridge base (which did run 3 lifts) until just after noon, when upper chairs gingerly opened one by one, except Aurora, Oz and Jordan, which never opened yesterday.

I read that Killington had similar major wind issues and holds.

I can't imagine being a paying day-tripper at any of these areas. On the other hand, it's a safety issue. Chairs don't do well with lateral swinging.

Still, to have paid the approximately $70 to ski for the day at one of these areas.....ouch. I'm not sure if Sugarloaf refunded, but Sunday River surely did not, as they were running the beginner area lifts and got a few more going at mid-day.

A tough day in northern New England....
Super Bowl Sunday, and given the "bye" on Saturday, I doubt either of these resorts will be as quiet as some had hoped today. I'm passing on the whole weekend.
