Question: New England February Vacation?

Divas, it's be quite a while since I've had February Vacation and I don't have any kids, so I'm totally out of touch. Does everyone know when the February Vacation week or weeks are in various parts of New England?? I'm trying to plan a ski weekend, probably in Vermont, for the BF and I, and though I know it's going to be crowded on a weekend anyway, I'd like to avoid the even BIGGER crowds that come with a vacation week. I was thinking Feb 27-Mar 1 because his bday is that weekend and we don't have any trips planned on the surrounding weekends. I know a lot of you have children, so hopefully you can help me out!!

Thanks

The week that begins with President's Day is perhaps the most crowded week. That's the third week of February. MA is on vacation, I think CT too, perhaps other states. It is also busy when Vermont and NH kids are on vacation, not sure what week it is.

The last weekend of the month sounds good. If I were looking to ski at a NE resort on a weekend, I would probably pick Stowe because of their excellent, fast lifts, and extensive terrain. Stowe is pretty darn expensive though.

Everywhere is expensive when you're not packing people into a cheap motel!. I'm actually thinking Okemo at the moment as I've found a relatively decent (read: not the $1000 it would be to stay slopeside) deal near there. I'm having trouble up by Stowe since their lift tickets are just SO expensive. Trip planning is hard!

I believe President's week is the week of Feb. 16th. During which ANY kind of deal is extremely hard to find! :noidea:

I looked into a trip to Okemo earlier this year and found some decent places to stay in Ludlow.

And I have to agree with the Stowe expensiveness. It's my favorite mountain on the East Coast, but it's getting sooo outrageous with cost. :(

michpc, if you are interested in the Stowe area, you should check out Bolton Valley. They used to have GREAT deals for families. It's been 6 years since I've gone there, but it's an area worth looking into.

Feb. vacation in CT encompasses the President's Birthdays. Don't know if this is true or not, but I've heard that VT picks a different week so the state residents can ski in less crowded conditions. Good Luck in your search.

According to my home resort's calendar, 2/23-2/27 is NH and Quebec vacation week. I believe most other New England/NE states are 2/16-20. 2/27-3/1 might just be a reasonably good "in-between" time, although it is still high season.

Just remember, when there's no more snow where you live and the daffodils are starting to bloom, a few hours north of you, it's truly The Best Time of the year to be skiing. The sun is warmer and higher, the snow is softer (even the icy bumps soften!)---some of the best skiing of the year in central to northern VT and similar latitudes in other NE states is well into April!
