New boots: Lange World Cup 120W or Lange Exclusive 100?

I've been skiing on a pair of Lange Comp 100 W's purchased in the fall of 2002 for the past 4 seasons. I love them, but I've skied 200+ days in them and it's time for a new pair.

When I got the boots I was a one-pair of skis girl, but now I've got a quiver of 4. I participate in recreational racing, but will also use the same pair of boots for everything else -- powder days, easy days with my husband who doesn't ski much, picking my way through blizzards.... what-have-you.

Anyone knowledgeable about the Lange line that can give a recomendation? It'll definitely be one of the two of these as I'm a Lange girl... I've tried others but my heel is narrow and it seems my foot is well shaped for a Lange. I've loved the Comp 100 W's, but there are times particularly in GS training and racing that they seem too soft, and my favorite thing to do on skis is train GS. But I don't want to get a boot that will be so stiff that I can't have fun on a powder day in my K2's.

Here are the skis I own:
Volkl P50 Motion 173 (for rock skis / easy days )
Volkl P60 GC Racing 168 (for GS racing & groomer days)
Atomic SL:9 160 (for SL racing & slush-mogul spring days)
K2 Phat Luv 167 (LOVE these on a powder day)

Thanks in advance!!

Wow! That'a a seriously agressive quiver!

IMHO, after my latest boot fitting experience, is that you'll waaaay over power the Exclusive - they're not going to be able to power up your GC's. They actually had the best fit for my narrow heel, wide forefoot, and fat calf, but the plastic they're made of is too soft. If you feel your Comp 100's are too soft for racing, you'll really think the Exclusive is a marshmallow. In the case of the Exclusive, the 100 designation has no relation to stiffness when compared to any of Lange's racing boots. I tried the Exclusive on one foot and my new WC100 Team on the other foot....the WC100 is about twice as stiff (and my fitter thinks even they may be to soft for racing :( ).

Go with the 120's!

*Thank you* so much for the advice! That's what I needed to hear. My racing is strictly recreational, and all of my race skis are the recreational race skis -- no race stock for me. That's what I needed to know, thanks again. I was leaning toward the 120's but was unsure. Now I'll know more when I head into the shop in Tahoe next week.

I have been on Lange's for the past 3 yrs and loved them, they are a little narrow for me and pretty packed out so I just bought Technica Diablo 70 Jr Race boot. They seem too easy to flex but according to the rep & all the experts I have been talking to "flex" is where its at. I am 150 lbs 5'2" so maybe that is part of it too but I do race quite a bit. I think the Langes are great if you have a narrow foot but I think stick with a good flex race boot from Lange and you will be good to go.

Don't forget the Lange Freeride 110 W, too. It's basically the same boot as the 120, just a tad softer and with a "shock absorbing" boot board. And it's white instead of blue. (I think the translucent plastic is a little softer than the opaque.)

I ski the 120s, and I've taken out one of the little screws in back to soften it up to what I understand is about 110. The 110s weren't in stock when I bought my 120s, but I suspect it would have been just perfect. I got 95% perfect, instead, which is fine. The 110 is a little cheaper, though. (Although you can get great deals on both boots right now.)

I think you're talking about this year's Comp model ... I really don't know so much about it because my boots were new last season, and I'm not in the market so not researching. But there is a thread discussing them here: Lange Comp Pro
