Need help starting a quiver!

Diva in Training
Hello everyone!

This is my first post on SkiDiva, although I've been reading it since I started skiing in January

I'm hoping for some advice...

I'm sure a bunch of you might think I'm crazy, but I'm ready to start my quiver. I have been skiing since January, but have been going up 2-3 times a week and am a very aggressive skiier/learner. I already feel comfortable on blacks (and spend most of my day there), but I'm only average on the bumps. I am in Colorado and purchased my set up for the backcountry - Scarpa Diva boots, Volkl Auras and Dynafit bindings.

I LOVE my Auras, but am looking to add a skinnier ski to rip down groomers and help me improve in the bumps. I don't like whimpy skis and have the muscle to handle stiffer skis.

My question is twofold - 1) what skis would you recommend? I can't really get out and demo because of the lack of boot compatibility with normal bindings and I really don't want to rent alpine boots. I'm contemplating the Burnin' or One Luvs. Would LOVE to get Volkl Fuego's, but can't find any info on AT boot & rail system compatible bindings.

Also, is it okay to put an AT binding (say, Dynafits or Dukes) on a skinnier ski? Is there any way I can add to my quiver without having to buy new boots? Are there any alpine bindings that are roomy enough to be compatible with AT boots?

Thanks!

Okay, I have no tips for you since I'm not at all versed on AT stuff but I wanted to say first, welcome, and second, nobody here is gonna think you're crazy for starting a quiver. :eyebrows:

I should probably say that I'm certainly not looking for any AT capability in a skinnier ski...that's what the Auras are for  The only reason I'm wanting to use AT bindings is so I don't have to purchase new boots!

Hello everyone!

Are you kidding?? We're the ultimate enablers!!! We LOVE quivers!!!

I don't really know anything about AT gear either so can't help you there. My question would be, are AT boots stiff enough to really power up a carver or mid-fat on the groomers?

Burnin Luvs are great on groomers. I loved them when I skied in New England. I don't use them much anymore since buying the Volkl Mantras & moving to CO. Maybe spring time...but I doubt it. Sadly, they will likely evolve into my rock skis. Anyone want to buy them?? lol.

Anyway - I have the Marker Jesters, which is essentially the same as the Duke, just w/o the AT option. Love the Jesters. The Dukes add a bit of a lift also - although I wouldn't recommend such a high end binding (and pricey) if you're going to put them on narrow skis.
