Need Help looking for a ski bag

Does anyone know where I could find a good but decently priced single ski bag / boot bags online? I am getting brand new skis this week  and the travel time between home and any kind of mountain is long (the shortest time is 4 hours in the back of a truck)and I wanted a way to travel with them better. Especially since they are brand new, and will be traveling next weekend to NM to go skiing.

Try Sierra Trading Post for decent prices but best to know what you're ordering. I got a High Sierra boot bag for $13. Also got a High Sierra ski bag for less than others and its held up very well. If Sierra Trading Post doesn't have what you're looking for, ebags will but prices will be higher. Try researching on internet.

Yeah I have looked online - but just wasn't sure that I wasn't missing some place good. Thanks for the info.

For your boot bag, do you want room to just put your boots, or do you want room for boots, helmet, and other accessories? Do you think you'll use the boot bag as a carry-on when you fly?
If you are just doing boots, then those from High Sierra will do. If you want more, try the Dakine Boot Locker. I LOVE mine. It carries all that I need for skiing, plus it can double as a nice travel bag on the off-season. If you want to carryon, then I'll recommend the Transpack. Several other Divas have them.

Similar question for your ski bag: just to protect when you put them in/on your vehicle or do you think you'll fly with them? If it's part 1, then the High Sierra will suffice. If part 2, look into padded bags.

I have a sport tube and really have loved it. After the airlines told me that they're not responsible for skis in soft sided cases I bought one from LLBean (I think). I've been really happy with it. I also use it in the back of the truck on the way up north.

Traveling this weekend with our High Sierra boot bags from Sierra Trading Post. Put boots, helmets, a couple pair of goggles, multiple pairs of gloves, hats, neck gaiters, and even some of my toiletries in mine. There was room for more!

The "matching" ski bag - skis, poles, jacket, pants and a tiny cooler! Again, there was room for more!

We picked up a couple of dakine bags from SAC a while back, which have taken a ton of abuse from the airlines and have held up great!
I also have a swix double ski bag that has not faired quite as well, but then its have a lot more use.

Everyone I know who uses a sport tube has loved it. I've seriously considered getting one to replace my swix when it gives up the ghost.

My fav boot bag is the Hot Gear Bag!
It will dry your boots and keep them warm on the way to the mountain!!!

If you're going to do any air travel at all, or even lugging of bags between a car and lodging, I'd seriously consider a wheeled bag!!

Ski/boot bags

I have a small collection of ski/boot bags.

For ski bags - highly recommend Sport Tube to travel. Very easy to wheel around. Mine has a small patch so if someone throws it around enough, it will crack.

I use my High Sierra ski bag for more frequent Tahoe trips. Have had it for 4+ years now and it looks virtually new still.

If I were looking at a new ski bag, I would check out the padded, wheeled bags. I was looking at K2 roller bags but couldn't find one to actually purchase and I'm fine with what I have (the shopaholic drives me to keep looking).

Re: boot bags, I have the largest size Transpack boot bag--separate compartments for boots which is nice, holds a LOT of stuff, 2 cross straps in front for use if backpack gets very heavy (those straps help a lot if I get carried away packing). Miserable to fit in a small locker.

I recently got a High Sierra boot bag for $13 (the accountant in me loves that kind of pricing). I can fit boots, 2 pairs goggles, gloves, helmet, etc. but it takes a little more work to get all that in. Wonderfully easy to fit in lockers.

I also got a smaller Transpack boot bag to travel with. The separate boot compartments are nice. It fits in the overhead of a standard plane.

I'm selling the large Transpack boot bag (have to figure out price but approx. 50% of whatever I paid). Very good condition just too large for me. If interested, please PM me.

I mentioned researching internet because of my internet bargain shopaholic tendencies.....you can get great tips from these forums that can help guide you; once you have an idea of what you want (and if you have some time to look on the internet) you can find amazing differences in pricing (end of season sales, good sites, etc). If Sierra Trading Post has exactly what I'm looking for, I will usually buy from them because their pricing is usually best.....but not always.

Shopping-Boot Bag

I got it from Sierra Trading Post. Pretty extraordinary deal. Sign up for their deal flyers on the web site. Have to admit, it was an unbelievable deal...

If you know what you want and they have it, Sierra Trading Post often has best price. Backcountry.com has the best service and very good pricing (but stuff sells out quickly). Steep and Cheap.com has extraordinary deals but you have to be in the right place at the right time.

End of season sales can be phenomenal. ALso, there are the various online outlets -- Backcountry, REI, etc.

Check out Ebags

I just picked up a few boot bags and ski bags from Ebags.com. I went with Transpack boot bags, which hold boots & helmet, and can be carried like a backpack. I also ordered 2 High Sierra ski bags. All of these items were on sale and I received free shipping. I am on their email list and feel like I get something from them everyday. I think they have a lot of sales. Good luck!
