My First Tru Luv!!!!!

So I finally had a chance to try out my first pair of “real” skis! Being an newly intermediate skier I bought a pair of K2 Tru Luv’s. I love them! Thanks for all the great advice to new skiers, Divas! I was able to control myself and did not feel out of control. Turning was not a problem. I’m no longer scared on steeper runs. While the skis are great… getting the skis was a little stressful.

I am a researcher… I love knowing what I want when I go into a store. After much research I went to a local ski shop that has a great reputation. I went in and asked if they carried K2’s. The young man immediately told me they had K2’s, but when I asked about the Tru Luv he told me that they did not have it. SO, I asked how much it would be if they ordered it. He promptly told me that it was last years model and that K2 was not making the Tru Luv this year. I told him that I had recently been on the K2 website and talked to people in an online forum. He told me I must have been mistaken and that I should not believe what I read online. I then asked him what ski he thought I should have. He suggested a few twin tip skis and a few other advanced to expert level skis. I left the store a little frustrated.

I ended up going online and buying a pair on E-bay… brand new with bindings for 300.00! They came in plastic. The seller was great and sent me a very detailed e-mail answering my many questions. I had the binding put on at the “store” I had gone before. They did a wonderful job attaching the bindings. I was a little peeved that they placed a sticker logo for their store on my skis labeling the skis left and right. I wouldn’t have minded if I had not had such a bad experience with the salesman.

On a positive note. I love my new skis.

I'm glad you love your new skis, but.... ewwww! I would take that "free advertising" right off! I hope you have another trustyworthy shop nearby, or at least don't work with the same salesperson again!

Enjoy the new skis! :ski2:

Hair dryer or heat gun on low should remove that. Then a little windex to remove any left over adhesive. I hate stuff like that!! Plus you don't really have a left or right ski. Unless your boots are different sizes or you need a different DIN on each ski!

Sounds like you and the True Luvs are a "perfect match!" Get rid of the L/R stickers - there really is no such thing (unless you wear different sole length boots!! Which, of course, you don't! ) Enjoy!

Thanks for the "hairdryer" advice! I did not pick up my skis... my DH did (I was at a conference). He said the shop was intent on the Left Ski Right SKi. I'm glad it doesn't really matter... I am getting the hairdryer out before I take them out tomorrow!

 THanks for all the advice and support. My DH is glad I belong to the Ski Diva... he was teasing me about how I managed to work skiing into our conversation every few minutes yesterday (I couldn't help it I was soooo excited about trying my new Luv's out!)

Glad you're loving the True Luvs!

I have one pair of skis that came flat and another pair that has railflex bindings. On the pair that came flat the shop slapped a right ski sticker on one of them, and I just left it there. Sometimes I make an effort to switch up which ski is on which side to keep wear on the edges even.

Hmmm, working skiing into the conversation every few minutes - methinks we have another "Divaddict" amongst us  ! (Did I just invent a new term here?)

Congratulations!

You've got a great pair of skis and you've learnt a very important lesson - to research and arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible, don't be dictated to about what is best for you, and to take the words of pimply youths who work in ski shops with a grain of salt!

Thanks! I am taking them out again tomorrow and on Saturday. I can't wait. Only problem... my new found confidence is making me think I'll need to upgrade sooner than I thought. That's alright with me.

Oh... on a side note... the stickers are off!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you happen to feel the need to upgrade soon, you may have a local buyer lined up already  :eyebrows:
