A knee length down coat for walking the dog as her butt gets cold and we see them in town but can't seem to find them. Can anyone help us? The higher fill the better, she's a tiny little thing with no natural insulation!

They are sometimes called coaches coats! I know that Descente and Colouir make them.

I just ordered a new coat for myself from Lands End, and I definitely remember seeing some there. I'm pretty sure LL Bean has them as well. Lands End has a free shipping code out right now, and if you use ebates, today is double cash back. (Of course, I placed my order on Wednesday.)

Not much help, but I know North Face makes 'em. That's pretty much the uniform for the Sundance Film Festival!

I agree with the Land's End/LL Bean. I bought a Land's End jacket years ago and it is truly the warmest jacket I've every owned...not even down !It is the insulated Squall Jakcet...comfort rating to -35!!!!

And, a lot less expensive than The North Face...

Patagonia makes a knee length down sweater called the "Fiona" it is nice for walking the dog etc because it does have a 2-way zipper. They make also one called the upside of down and another one I believe called the down with it I believe all have 2 ways. Isis makes one called the town coat. Keep in mind though with down, it isn't nececssarily the amount of down but the quality of the down a thin down jacket with high quality fill can be warmer than a super puff with lesser quality. A higher quality down will be warmer in lesser amounts. Marmot I think has one similiar also. If she will be walking in wet weather etc, you may want to look at the tres parka, it is more of a "system" jacket that has a waterproof outershell and offer more wind protection as well.

Oops, wrong season, brand? The Ina Down parka is the one with the waterproof shell.

LL Bean Rugged Ridge Parka. This is my "go everywhere" coat when I'm not skiing. Perfect for walking the dog. Warm, comfy, light weight, lots of pockets and discontinued colors go on sale for a lot less.

almost forgot, it's not knee length but it does cover my butt.

I got a 3/4 length LL Bean Ultrawarm coat last year https://is.gd/9EVZ. It's only 650 fill power, but I have found it plenty warm, and it also comes in a full length that looks warmer still. I've gotten compliments on the jacket, for a puffy down jacket it still has a little bit of shape.

North Face makes great ones and I believe that Mountain Hardwear also makes a good 3/4 length one. I looked for one for my grandpa and was hard pressed to find something for him to walk his dog as well that was good quality and kept him warm. I do know that commuting in my Mountain Hardwear when it's -4 out in the morning is a million times better thanks to my sub zero. I'd also look around at what the coaches of ski teams are currently wearing as they usually have long down coats for the purpose of standing at the end of a mogul coarse watching their athletes compete. Spyder I think is one of the companies that makes one that is long. Hope it helps.

Really warm long parkas

If you go to the USSA site they offer a full length parka designed for gatekeepers. Since it is designed for sedentary use on very cold and even rainy days for long periods of time it may be just the ticket.
