My 08-09 outfit

Does this thread title sound vain? That's because it is!!

So it's gettin chilly here in Aspen lately (37 degrees last night) and I've got my mind set on SKI GEAR!! As usual. So last night I reconnected with a friend who just so happened to inform me that his good friend in Cali was one of the founders of 686 Snowboard gear. He said just to let him know if I wanted any of their stuff and he can get it for super cheap.

So naturally, I started browsing today. I am in love!! (Oh, and the guy's a total cutie too.) I had been online browsing for a while now for my new soft goods. So here's my dilemma: I LOVE the 686 Smarty Admiral Jacket in Fatigue (brownish and a mustardy color) with the Lowrise Smarty matching pants. HOWEVER, the website shows a girl with the black/pink version...and I got to thinking...my NEW Volkl Auras are all Black and Pink. I'm not the biggest fan of black - but the pink kind of chick's it out enough...and it will stay clean!

Would that be TOO matchy? I mean...would I look silly with and entirely matching outfit? Check it out, let me know what you divas think!!

I really like the pink and black, but I think I'd get tired of it quickly. The original one you liked really strikes me as something that has staying power.

Unless, you just want to buy something for the season and replace it next year.

And with both - you could totally change up either outfit with a different color pant. If I could find a matching mustardy colored pant, that would be awesome. Or a pink pant with the black.

And yes...I'm a brat. I buy all new stuff every year. It's more fun to me than my regular clothes!

IMHO, there is nothing wrong with matching... it can be fun. Noone ever said that skiing had to be serious. There's nothing wrong with playing it up, after all, that's why they make all the outfits they do.

Could you couple the jacket <black and pink> with the red-dot pants? they look pink and pretty fun on the website... hmmm...mix it up, you don't have to be in all black.

So... That means you have stuff to get rid of???

I love that jacket. DH has 686 Smarty pants and they are his fav. snowboarding pants. I have a Burton soft shell that I love. I love the roominess of snowboarding clothes, though I will say that for Western conditions, my Cloudveil RPK jacket is unmatched for skiing in a variety of conditions. It is a little . . . dull looking though. I have some fun goggles to liven things up.

I am more of a "coordinating" girl than a "matching" girl (unless you count the ski outfit I owned in 1987 and brought to Aspen in fact, groan) so I would stick with a cool color palate if you want to show of the skis but not totally match it. The Admiral jacket is great in the brown, and I pretty much stick to warm neutral colors myself, but I have last year's Auras and the colors are totally neutral. If you like to mix it up each season, go for the black and pink but consider a lighter pant, maybe a cool ivory or light grey in another brand, to make the skis and jacket pop, and add some colorful goggles. If you've got your heart set on those Smarty pants, I wonder how the grey ones would look with the black jacket. All black might be kinda dark and get old quick. The matching pants do look pretty cute, but again, you'd have a very dark profile top to bottom except up close especially if your helmet is dark.

I love shopping and dressing for skiing and and I have several teenage daughters and a son to dress for the hill each season, which is super fun as they look great in just about everything. This will be my 5th season skiing and I made some boo-boos in terms of fashion and functionality the first few years, but have sold or given away those items and am really happy with my stuff for this coming season.

Let us know what you decide! :p

I love the way you think!

No that means I have several jacket/pant choices each morning!!

Last year I got a nice burnt orange Sessions jacket, but it was all one color and I wore them with neutral beige pants. So that's kinda why I'm steering away from the brown coat...unless it's more of a green, cuz I really love green. It's hard to tell from the site - wtf? I've gotta go browse in some stores to see if I can find it somewhere.

I think I'm going to go with the black/pink coat with pink pants. Mainly because I am NOT a pink kinda gal - and the contradiction factor kind of makes me smile. Then probably buy a pair of white/ivory pants for cheap at a preseason sale or something. But I'm not going to buy the pink pants until I have the jacket cuz I'd like the pinks to match the coat's pink. And my helmet is black...and my goggles are a dark pink.

I'm going to be a black and pink maniac out there!! and I like it!:brr:

I love that jacket, it has a great cut and just enough pink to be interesting but not overwhelming - so you can accent it up with whatever you want. I'll bet it is really flattering.

I look forward to seeing the manic pink skier ..... pink pants would be a helluva lot of fun.

I love to have the wild colors out on the slopes as I'm a little more restrained on the streets. If you're getting heavy use out of your ski gear and can afford to switch it out each season I say you should always go bold.

You know what?? I think both outfits are hot. The thing about matching too much is if you're not good enough to pull it off..and I'm thinking you are good enough!:becky:

The tourists will be jealous with not only how you ski, but how you look!:snow:
