Mini A-Basin Report

Well, I got to ski the WROD at A-Basin today, what fun!!! It was so nice to be skiing (I use that word loosely) again.

The run was well covered, except for a couple of little rocks that appeared around lunchtime. Naturally I discovered these. It got a little scrapey but was still good fun.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous! Blue skies and sunshine, just like the best spring skiing day you could imagine (except in Fall...).

My skiing was pretty horrific. This is my first season on shaped skis and I'm looking forward, desparately, to some lessons. I got a few nice turns in each run, so I took encouragement from that.

Let's see, what else, well the snowboarders were out in full force, I got clipped twice by them, each time while I was standing to the absolute side of the run.

A few photos, not very good, I'm afraid, but give a general idea.

I was all on my ownsome. Met some nice folk to chat with on the chair lift and none of them hit me with the safety bar, so life was good.

I think our first day on the WROD will be next Thursday. Sure hope it snows a little before then!!!

Of course, we have to drive 1000 miles to get out there . . .

I asked because there were a few Bears from EpicSki at Abasin today and I wondered if you were hanging out with them.

And yes, I think you do get the "first (North America) turns of the season" unless another went up that day (let's hear about it, if you're one of those!).
