"men's" twin tips?

I'm in search of a new all-mountain twin-tip. I do jib and do some jumps in the park, ski switch, but mostly ski the mountain. I'm 5'10", about 160-165 (it varies!) and am strong (ex-bike racer) intermediate to advanced skier. I like to ski fast. I'm confused with the women's twin-tips. I'm wondering if some will be too soft and if I should try "men's". When I research these skis some no longer have the "unisex" label; they are labeled "men's." I'd like to maybe try PE's or the Armada ARV's or T Halls. I feel a lot of the women's twin-tips are for lighter or less experienced skiers. Comments from ladies who ski twin-tips?

I personally don't have experience with them, but I've been looking as I get ready to buy new skis for my son. I've been looking at the PE, as well, but then came across the Nordica Ignition, which appears to be very similar, a tad bit lighter, but possibly a little bit better on the all-mountain part.

I think my son still wants the PEs (they look "cooler," natch), but I was interested in the Nordicas. Made in Europe vs Made in China, if that makes a difference to you ....

And they are CHEAP! $270 at Backcountry.com right now.

Definitely give the PEs a try, or anything else you fancy!
The PE is a nice all-mountain twin tip. For me, I don't care whether it's a "men's" ski or a "women's" ski. If I demo it and like it, I'll buy it.

The PE is nice in that it comes in some smaller lengths suitable for us shorter women. I am 5'3" and bought a pair of PEs in 159cm.

I had the K2 Nancy Twin Tips & really didn't like them. Sold them & got a pair of Volkl Mantras. The Nancys were WAY too soft & flexy. You should try the Seth's or PE's.

The Volkl Bridge is also an awesome twin tip all mountain ski. I demoed it for 4 days & almost bought them. There's a review on them in the Gear Review section somewhere.

Also - find the Ski Presse tester reviews...that's your best source right there.

Thanks skigrl27! :becky: My experience with K2's is that they are great, but really heavy. I've read a review on the Bridge that was really good, (and it has cool graphics) so I will check that out, as well as the Ski Presse reviews.

Does anyone have experience with Lines? They have some nice skis.

I don't jib nor ski switch (yet). But I have the Dynastar Trouble Maker as an all-mountain ski. I found it soft enough for ME (read: feather weight non-aggressive skier). Sometimes I even wish they're a bit stiffer. So for the athletic agressive women skiers, by all means check out the "men's" park skis.

I think park skis in general are on the soft side. I don't know much about the women-specific park skis. But if they soften them as they do with other skis, they'll be real noodles! :(

Well, I got my new skis and they're NOT men's.....I picked up a pair of Line Celebrities in a 172 on sale with Rossi Scratch bindings for $450, and I'm totally stoked! I skied them tonight and they were awesome! Despite being a chick ski and totally looking like a chick ski (celeste blue-green with flowers and hot pink bases) they are a very solid, relatively stiff (but not too stiff) ski that holds an edge on hardpack and rips down the mountain!

Fun in the park, too! I mounted them traditionally but they work well with still a nice swing weight.

Will post a more detailed review. Wow! I'm so excited!

Awesome, sounds like you found your ski! I ordered a pair of K2 Public Enemy's myself after demoing them in a slightly longer length. Definitely a bit heavier than I'm used to, but a great ski. What length did you end up with? Let us know how they work out after more time on the mountain...enjoy!:ski2:

I got a 172, and it's perfect. Your PE's are great skis too...you'll be able to rip on them, and their graphics are badass!

I'll post more after I get some more time on my Celebs.
