May snow in the mid-atlantic?!

So, I was up at 7 Springs in PA for the weekend. Did some nice light hiking, while Mr. Sheena-to-be biked. We stumbled upon the last little bit of snow on the slopes. I still had my skis and boots in the condo up there and was almost tempted to go back and get my skis on for a few pics. No skis, but we decided to take pictures anyway!

I've been told -- don't know if it's true -- that the snowpack in upstate New York, where they had 12 feet of snow this winter, is going to last til August!

Anyone know about this?

Don't know about August. But I just spoke with a ranger in the White Mountain area. He was proud to tell me that he took yesterday off skiing Tuckerman's Ravine!
