Looking for mitten advice and random question

I haven't skied in FOREVER. Even longer than that, I haven't skied in the USA using my own gear, and I am finally getting to go in a little more than a month!!!

Any advice on mittens that won't break the bank? I have ADHD and I'm on medication for that, which aggravates my tendency to have Raynaud's phenomenon. So I need WARM mittens, my raynaud's used to be primary in my feet but with a medication change I think it's migrating to my hands I am able to wear larger kid XL mittens so I would welcome suggestions for those as well. If I could stay under 50 it would be wonderful! I used to ski in Swany toaster mittens but I lost them when I moved away from colorado :(

I got my skis waxed and tuned, but there well old. Is there anything, in particular, I need to watch out for before using them again?

Also....for the next week and a half, I work at REI, so if rei sells them, it will be even better for my budget.

Swany Toasters are still available, at least here in Canada. Down mitts maybe? I got a pair at Costco and really can't wear them, they're too hot.

As for your skis....make sure your boots fit into the bindings. Maybe have a tech check the release and DIN setting. And while your at the store....look at new boots and skis!! Depending on the age of the boots they may explode on you. Plastic doesn't last forever.

I love my Swany mittens- luckily they are made in my area so I have a factory outlet- it's moving to bigger location as I type. Mittens are warmer than finger gloves. Look for mittens with the pocket to put hand heaters in.

If your equipment is ancient you may want to rent.. Definitely check the boots-- my old rear entry cracked (nearly blew up) at whiteface years ago- I had to duct tape them on for a couple of days until I could buy new boots. New skis are awesome, so much easier to ski than old skis- old skis also can delaminate, bindings may be too old for a shop to do a release check. Renting may be safest thing to do..
the mantra on here- marry your boots, date your skis. If you're going to make an investment boots are best to be first.
