Looking for a pair of ski pants...

I'm about 5'3" so I need something that can accommodate for my short height. I also need a little extra room in the thigh area

I went to the sport shop the other day but everything was about 20-30 cm too long!!! Do you know of any brands that would accommodate me?

Thanks:smile:

I believe that North Face makes pants in short or petite... I'm never worried about length though, my ski pants are Orage men's large, (I am 5'5" 175lbs, about 31" inseam, normally wear a women's XL ski pant) and with ski-boots, I don't have any problems.

Ahh here is a discussion on which I can chime-in helpfully. Several manufacturers do claim to make "petite" length pants, but they are often difficult to find. I have a pair of Columbia pants in petite that work well for me. What I really want is a pair of NorthFace uninsulated freedom pants - but sadly they were all sold out of my size (in colors other than white  ) before Xmas this year. I find that their sizing runs a bit generous in the waist/hips as I can wear a small in these pants comfortably. And the length of the non-petite pants is perfect for me at 5'3.5". I have a 29" inseam I think - I measured it once!

Sadly I'm so used to not being able to get any pants in the proper length that I've taken to wearing healed clogs (so like 2-2.5" heal) so that I don't have to roll up every pair of pants I own!

Hi,

Maybe you can find some Obermeyers...I picked up a pair at my shop. I also have a pair of North Face shell type pants. Obermeyer comes in "short", "regular" etc. I'm 5'5" but have a short inseam so I bought their 8 short. They run a size small as well, so take that into consideration. i.e. I usually wear a 6. For the North Face, I can get away with a regular small. The Obermeyers are stilll a tad longer than I like, but not horrid. Same with the North Face pair. Good Luck! Tis a frustrating thing....

I am 5'1" and have the same problem. I have a pair of arcteryx that fit perfectly, I think the stingray and the minuteman have wider thighs than their other models, especially the stingray. ( or some kind of ray anyway ) I think thay tend to run a little shorter than most. The ones that run longer for me are: Mountain Hrdwear, Cloudveil, Marmot, and patagonia. But I have had luck nin Patagonia men's? as well as have a pair of guide pants that don't drag because of the elastic at the ankle. I haven't dabbled in some of the other brands mentioned though, they may be good fits as well.

I know this routine all too well. ;)

The other thing is that ski pants can be altered. Our own geargrrl does it but there are numerous shops that specialize in working with technical fabrics and can do it well. I am 5'5" but because most clothing manufactures assume that as you go up a size you automatically get taller I tend to have issues as well. With ski pants unless it's super long the ski boots make it a non-issue.

Look for Isis, too. "We fit women" is their motto, and they definitely do! Though they might be harder to find in stores, especially in smaller sizes. I have a pair of Isis ski pants and LOVE them.
