Ok, this is a little bit of a brag, but I gotta tell you, I'm just so stinking proud of myself that I had to share it with everyone! :becky:

And let me just say that I am SO not the do-it-yourself'er type...but THIS is what I did last weekend (and finished up the other night!):

I did it ALL BY MYSELF. Well, ok, a few questions here and there, but all the physical work was done completely by myself! The scariest part was turning the breaker back on after I connected the wiring...it was a huge relief not to see any sparks or fire shooting out of the ceiling. :eyebrows:

It does still need a little work, it's not quite balanced and is kinda wobbly at high speed, but it's not going to fall out of the ceiling, and low and medium speeds work just fine! Yay, me! :p

Oh, and by the way, whoever writes the instruction manuals for these things should be die a long, slow, painful death. This was definitely NOT the easiest thing I've ever done! :frusty:

Great job getting it up there! I just had a hard time imagining getting that ungainly thing up that high...:(

I'm usually the DIY kind (a degree in physics helps a lot  ). But I tend to pass on heavy item hanging down from the ceiling, especially the kind that vibrates. Having something heavy dropping on my head is not just a worry. It's a real danger I've seen happened. I'll do the light weight stuff but not the heavy ones...

So, my suggestion is take care of that "not-quite-balance" part. At low speed, you don't SEE the inblance. But it's obviously still there if you can tell it at high speed.

Also, if you know someone who's half way good at eletric wiring, have them check your wiring just to be safe. You don't want a house fire in the middle of a hot summer night! Although I must admit a fan is such a low power item the risk isn't very high...

You deserve to be proud of that. That's hard work and takes some determination. Well done

Nice. Impressive too.

I cannot even put together IKEA furniture, so I am sure the entire house would be condemned if I ever attempted something like that.

I agree, the instruction manuals on ANYTHING are far from easy. That's so strange, you'd think they would be the easiest part of the job?

Btw, kudos for you! It looks great!
