Ok, this is a little bit of a brag, but I gotta tell you, I'm just so stinking proud of myself that I had to share it with everyone!
And let me just say that I am SO not the do-it-yourself'er type...but THIS is what I did last weekend (and finished up the other night!):
I did it ALL BY MYSELF. Well, ok, a few questions here and there, but all the physical work was done completely by myself! The scariest part was turning the breaker back on after I connected the wiring...it was a huge relief not to see any sparks or fire shooting out of the ceiling.
It does still need a little work, it's not quite balanced and is kinda wobbly at high speed, but it's not going to fall out of the ceiling, and low and medium speeds work just fine! Yay, me! :p
Oh, and by the way, whoever writes the instruction manuals for these things should be die a long, slow, painful death. This was definitely NOT the easiest thing I've ever done!

). But I tend to pass on heavy item hanging down from the ceiling, especially the kind that vibrates. Having something heavy dropping on my head is not just a worry. It's a real danger I've seen happened. I'll do the light weight stuff but not the heavy ones...
