This is a quote from a different thread that got me to thinking about how much more I know about ski gear, ski technology, bindings(still need to know a lot more about bindings), boots, and even poles.

Maybe I've mentioned it elsewhere, but it's amazing that I've been "a skier" since 2001 and haven't known ANYTHING about skiing and the equipment I am using all that time!

I've skied for over 20 years and never really cared to know more about the gear I used, until about 5 or 6 years ago. The minute I started researching a pair of skis I was about to buy, I just had to know more, and more, and more......until I bore my husband(poor soul) to tears with my constant chatter about "Ski Stuff".
When his buddies call us to help figure out a ski purchase, its ME they ask for on the phone.
Sometimes I wonder if this passion for ski gear knowledge is something my husband fears or if it turns him on. I'm guessing the latter

Is the average SkiDiva here out of necessity, curiosity or something else?

PASSION.....definitely! Don't have a super high level of knowledge about gear but it is growing. Someone I know who is an experienced skier asked me for info on gear choices...that was a shock..but an insight into the fact that I am acquiring more knowledge all the time...and if I don't know the answers, I know some very good sources to call on!!!!!

Skiing is definitely a PASSION for me!

I'm constantly trying to squeeze all possible ski related information from all possible sources. There's plenty of space left in my brain for more, so don't hold back!

Hmm I'm new here and I came and joined up with you gals because i'm a little sick of the skiing website I currently frequent... and it seems like this site is a pretty refreshing alternative!

About gear knowledge...I love ski/boot/binding/apparel talk! I feel like I could go on and on forever. It's been embedded in me after 5 years of sitting through clinics and working in a shop

Passion for this sport. As an instructor students look to you for advice. They see what your skiing on and want it. But as we all know, it may not be the right equipment for them. So knowledge is important. I really need that bumper skier - I love to ski. You know the one with the heart instead of love!!
