Longboarding? (skateboard)

Due to my boyfriend I bought a longboard skateboard a couple of years ago. I had never skateboarded, so it was quite a challenge for me....

After a few years I figured the one thing I like the most is speeding on a longboard, going downhill fast. Since we don't have mountains over here, I give it a try at hills. My longest run was 3km.
I don't know what it is, but this gets me an adrenaline rush... I didn't try the real fast downhill runs though...

So I just wondered: do any of you have a longboard skateboard? And if so, have you tried going downhill with it? Did you survive?? ;)

The only thing I can ever think of when I see a longboard is my friend's story about spiral-fracturing his tib-fib on a relatively mellow downhill run.:eek::eek::eek:

I don't think I'd ever touch one - I'm getting too old to fall on pavement. :D

My neice and nephew both have regular skateboards and longboards, they love them and are good at it, but ride on pretty flat roads around their neighborhood.

Those things would scare me, tho! I would hate to wipe out on pavement (that's why I like skiing!)
