Long ski pants

Some of you know I'm on a never-ending search for ski pants with an inseam long enough that I don't look like I'm wearing ski capris.

Last season I finally found a decently priced pair of Arc-Teryx talls -- although they are still only a barely-adequate 32" -- woo hoo.

I was shopping yesterday and looking at ski pants, and holy cow, the new Patagonia Powder Bowl pants have about a 34" inseam. They were really long (probably overly so for most people, but perfect for me). Brand new style, and still $300, so I don't feel too bad (because I'm not spending $300 on a pair of pants ... of course, I've spent about $600 on 4 pairs of pants in the past few years, searching for the perfect pant on SALE, but we won't talk about that.)

Anyway, if anyone else is in my boat, here's a tip. :-)

And if you are small, I wouldn't order them without trying first. The size chart from Patagonia says the inseam is 31/32", but that is just not the case.

They were extremely nice pants, too, as are most pieces from Patagonia. As usual, I felt like I was between sizes (one size being a little baggy for my liking, the smaller being a touch snug for activity), but the features and fit were impressive.

I can't wear most Patagonia pants because they are SO long. It sounds like you didn't get them/did? I "think" cloudveil is making lengths now too if you didn't. Otherwise check the web-site for some of last springs "alpine" clearance pants, the alpine line is long and more narrow fitting than the ski one, but typically serves the same purpose.

How do you feel about North Face? They've got short, regular and long lengths.

Yeah, I re-tried on my Arc'Teryx talls, and they are just fine. Definitely longer than 32", so I don't know what I was remembering. They were less than half the price of the Patagonias, too (thank you SAC), so we're happy. I only wish they had a few more pockets, but oh well. Can't have it all, I guess. :p

I did try TNF. One of the problems with lengths is actually finding them to try on ... because even if they're long enough, that particular style still might not fit right in other places. The North Face has about 70 billion pant styles, and some come in long, some don't -- so even if I found some to try on, I didn't know if I could order them in lengths, then I'd look online to find the right style in a long, but the colors weren't right ... in short, it was too confusing, and I gave up.

Arc'Teryx has just a few pant styles, and I knew that a particular one fit me (well) in a particular size, so it was just a case of being patient and waiting for a good deal. (I got really lucky.)

I have been looking for some insulated TNF Freedom pants in a long, though. It isn't urgent, and I need a color (no black, since they're for my black insulated jacket), so I'll keep my eyes open.

Backcountry outlet has em for a great price. The icy blue is great if you're looking for colorful. The long's are pretty much all large and extra large, though. Their store, as opposed to outlet, has long in all the sizes, but black and white only.

REI has em in all kinds of sizes, but no blue. Just white, brown, and black.

Try Helly Hansen. I got a pair last year and 1) they run big. And 2) They run very long...and I'm 5'8" and still had to fold them up when not clicked in.

this thread reminds me of trying to lose weight while others are saying that they can't gain any. I'm always looking for a pant that is SHORT enough.

That being said, I just ordered the North Face pant (reg length) from the BC outlet.

I know about the pants that offer long lengths because they're often the same that offer short lengths for shortie me

I have Obermeyer Sugarbush (I think) in the long length and like them a lot. (My inseam is 33 1/2, for reference.)
