List of Bootfitters Across the World

2015 was the last post in this thread. I'm guessing its pretty outdated.

Anyone have recent recommendations for boot fitters in Vail? I'll be there early season and thats always a good time to get boots because there is a good selection. If not, I'll have to sacrifice my time on the mountain and battle the crowds in Mammoth the week after New Years or worse wait till later in the season.

@KatyPerrey @RachelV This is your neck of the woods. Any suggestions?

SBF -Ski Boot Fitting is very well respected in Vail. Many instructors from all over use SBF. I see Jeff Bergeron (over 20 yrs) in Breckenridge. Jeff is hard to get an appointment with and he rarely sees walk in folks.

If I were going to be in Vail, I'd contact Ski Boot Fitting, which operates out Vail Mountain Sports. This is Greg Hoffman's business that works inside a Vail owned shop, but his staff is top notch. He's one of the Masterfit instructors and has a good team.

@SnowHot and @KatyPerrey I have contacted Greg Hoffman but am having a tough time figuring out specifics with him. He was responsive initially but wouldn't meet in Vail, only Beaver Creek and won't give me the address of where to meet him or set a morming meeting time that works for me riding the bus early season. Is he a bit of an unusual personality? I'm a details person and wondering if he is just super laid back hence the disconnect. TBH I'm having second thoughts about doing my fitting with him based on our interaction online.

A surprisingly big winter sports store near Brussels with everything from skis to clothing to goggles etc. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They've been in business for 40 years, quite an accomplishment in a country without ski hills.

I just got new boots fitted there and although I haven't skied in them yet, I'm confident they will be great. They started out with really took their time to give me all sorts of boots and brands to try out and ordered a higher flex boot for me without having to purchase it in case it didn't fit (I tried the same model in a lower flex so they were 95% sure I'd like it, but still).

I just got new boots fitted there and although I haven't skied in them yet, I'm confident they will be great. They started out with a 3D foot scan (the only shop in Belgium who currently does the 3D vacuum Fischer scan), then really took their time to give me all sorts of boots and brands to try out and ordered a higher flex boot for me without having to purchase it in case it didn't fit (I tried the same model in a lower flex so they were 95% sure I'd like it, but still).

Once they received the boots, I tried them on to see how the stock fit felt, then they started the heated customizing process. They also changed the insoles and added heel supports in between the liner and the shell. We've already agreed I'll head back to the shop for some minor tweaks after the first week of skiing. They didn't have to punch out areas of the shell (no hot spots so far), but they have all the necessary equipment in case they need to.

It's a long shot, but if you ever find yourself in Belgium and in need of new boots, this is the place to be.

I was delighted to find a professional boot fitter in snow-free Victoria, BC. Brian has been fitting boots for more than 30 years. He is knowledgeable, professional and methodical. He does the full range of modifications (as required) from blowing out the shell, filing it down, to building custom insoles. You have to book an appointment in advance, because he spends at least an hour with you, often two. It's worth it.

Recently, I got fed up with my existing boots and went to see Brian in early March - the tail end of the ski season. Sure enough, Brian found a boot that fit me well, and discussed the modifications he'd make, but given the type of skier I am, he thought I would be happier with "more" boot. He recommended that I come back next year when he had lots of brand new stock, so I could try on a wider range of boots. He could have sold me those boots without much effort -- instead, he put my needs ahead of his sale. I was impressed and I'll definitely be going back next fall.

Rick has over 30 years of boot fitting experience. Rick started his own shop 9 years ago after working at Vertical Drop and Munson Ski Shop.

FYI - Rick Barton is no longer at the Vertical Drop Ski Shop.

Rick has now retired and closed the Alpine Accessories shop. He is referring everyone to the Viking Ski Shop, 131 W Northwest Hwy, Barrington, IL. They only do boot fitting by appointment. 847-381-1188

With the demise of The BootDoctors in Taos Ski Valley (thank you, Christie Sports ), I'm wondering where to go to get expert bootfitting in New Mexico, esp around Taos. I did find out that Charlie Brandon, a Master Bootfitter who worked there for many years, is now working at Bluebird Mountain Sports in Santa Fe, but it seems like they have a pretty limited selection of boots, from their website.

I realize there are places in CO, but I was hoping to be able to get new boots tweaked and ski on them at the same place.

Does anyone know of any other shops that have Master Bootfitters in NM?

For the east coast Aussies - Orthoski. They have a permanent home at Mt Buller but do pop-ups during the year in Sydney and Brisbane: just had a Brisbane appointment with Ray and my god, the difference it's made. Compared to my old Lange my new Nordicas are like carpet slippers.
