Lift ticket prices in Colorado

Keystone/Breck has always been one of my favorite places to ski in Colorado. So I was dismayed to see the prices of lift tickets for this season.
We have always stopped in Denver at King Soupers to buy them and get a little break on the price, but this year they are still $83.00 from them! :( I think that is a terribly high price.
So my question is this...do any of your gals know where to get them cheaper than that? I already checked Peaks...they aren't any cheaper. And I know since Vail bought out Keystone, they are not in any of those "Gold C" entertainment coupon books anymore either, which is a darned shame. How does a family afford to go there anymore at those prices?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Call these guys https://www.virginislandsski.com/index2.htm
Their website is useless, but I know they sell discount tickets. Compare prices. I know some friends bought them recently, but I wasn't checking prices.

If you plan to go in January, you can purchase a Peaks perfect 10 pass which will give you 10 days at 47 and change per day. The catch is that you must use one day on each pass before 1/31. Also good at Heavenly.

If you know someone who has a season pass, they can get you a discount. I don't remember what it is specifically, but each season passholder gets 6 "bring a friend" discounts...that is for Keystone & Breck. I haven't been able to find anything else for Keystone or Breck, although we did get a 4 pack to Keystone/A-Basin. Winter Park/Copper has different deals. I know with my WP 4 pack I can get a deal for friends, so it just depends. Let me know if you would rather go to WP or Copper!

Being from Illinois, I know no one with a season pass. There are six of us adults going Feb. 2-9 this year. We are set with a Copper 2 for 1 from our airline, I just bid on a same type coupon for Winter Park.
But as you already know, Keystone and Breck are exempt from those things...darn it. And we will be skiing three of our 5 days there....and 1 day each at Winter Park and Copper.
So I will check this liftopia out...thanks girls!

Well, if you purchase a Peaks 3 of 5 days ticket in advance it comes out to $77 per person per day.

Is anyone in your group by chance military? They get a special deal (a season pass to Keystone/A-basin for something like $169). I'd offer discounts from my pass but they are already reserved by the family I have coming to visit this season.

I also have a graphic designer friend who works for Vail Resorts' agency and lives in Breck. I'll ask her advice too. But know that with all the snow we've been getting and more on the way, you won't be sorry you chose my home state for your ski vacation! Conditions are awesome right now!

P.S. If you're in Copper on a Wednesday, check out the Women's Wednesdays ski school classes. All women instructors, all women participants. NO TESTOSTERONE ALLOWED! For all levels so whether you're a beginning wanting to straighten out or an intermediate rockstar wanting to move to the back of the mountain, there will be a gropu for you. I did it two years ago and in one day even my husband noticed a huge improvement.

Yes, please do.....it's sometimes people like that who can put you onto a better deal in buying lifts.

I wish Vail would not be added into the mix, since that happened lift prices are steadily climbing. And for those of us who don't especially care for the crowds at Vail, we would rather have a cheaper ticket to Keystone, where we are satisfied. That's just my opinion though...:p

AMEN! But since Vail bought everyone else... what can you do. I'll check in with my friend.

Per my Breck friend:

I have heard of other locations like sports authority, safeway & king soopers. sometimes some of the other sporting goods folks in summit county will put out quick sales but its a lot of hustle and calling around...can be worth it though.

That's interesting because one of the things I like about Vail is that I can almost always find a lift with little to no waiting times. If you get away from Mid Vail and over to the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin you'll usually find something. Also, stay away from Northwoods when the bowls are closing. Personally, because I have access to a home in Vail I like to have the Colorado Pass which includes Vail and most of the Summit County mountains. I also have a Copper pass due to coaching.

You would be very familiar with Vail then, and know where to go much better than me to avoid crowds and lift jam ups. I admit I have only been there a couple times, and you can lose a lot of time fumbling around looking at maps, finding a run you like, ending up on a part of the mountain you don't want to be, etc. Vail is big, and if I had the time and money to go on ski trips more than once a year , I'd love to explore it more.....but sadly, I don't.
I envy you...

Oh...I also have a question about Peaks. If you buy tickets online from them in advance, I think I read that you would pick them up at any regular ticket window at the resort you are skiing at?
Does that work pretty smooth, or can you get to the window, and nobody knows whats going on? I would hate to hold up my group while a clerk tries to find my tickets.

I've done this with no problem. It works at any ticket window. Just have your Peaks number with you, and it should go very smoothly.

This probably sounds like a dumb question...but exactly what does the term 3 out of 5 mean? By that I mean...if you were to buy a 3 day pass to Keystone/Breck, ski the first time with it on a Sunday, skip a day or two, then use your last ticket on a Friday, which would be six days after using the first one....has it expired???

I believe so. So, if you use your first on Sunday then you'd want to make sure to use your last my Thursday. But, give them a call to be sure. I've called them before to ask about ski with a friend prices and they were very courteous and helpful.
