Kjus

Does anyone on the board have a Kjus jacket? Does the price justify the quality, warmth and features of the jacket.

I can't help you...but they sure are pretty and felt great when I tried them on. If I could afford to toss money around like that I would probably buy a set.

However, you should ask W. Ski, she just received one as b-day present!

I have a friend who swears by his, has both the jacket and pants and is looking to buy another set.

I just got a jacket and pants as an early Xmas gift. Don't know yet about how warm, but they are soooooo comfortable and look great on. The features seem really well thought out and useful.

Yep, I just got the Kjus Formula jacket as an early birthday present - can't wait to get skiing with it! I had another Kjus jacket for the last 4 years - loved it, my favorite jacket. Trim fitting, warm, but not bulky or overly heavy. I lost 26 lbs this summer and, alas, it no longer fit. :( But, thanks to DH, I am now set for the future!
:becky:
I better not gain any of that weight back - can't afford to!

And the Kjus Formula pants are the best fitting, most comfortable ski pants I've ever had.

I have one of their jackets and it is my favorite. Because it was so expensive, I tend to wear it with some caution , which makes me feel like a babysitter to a garment. Kind of ridiculous. However, the quality is superb, and they do live up to their standards. I have some other very nice jackets and pants as well...but they cost at least $100-200 less, and I feel they are equally as well made. But the Kjus is a fabulous technical jacket and feels absolutely wonderful. If you don't plan on changing your clothing size in the next year or so, then go for it! I'm hoping to wear mine for the rest of my skiing days.

My bf has been using his for four years, and he just loves them. I have borrowed them on occasion, and they are really good. If I needed new skiing clothes and could afford it, I would probably go for Kjus.

Everyone I know who has worn Kjus just raves about it. I guess I could afford it if I stuck to one jacket, but I prefer having multiple jackets (even if I have spent as much on all of them put together) just to stave off boredom if nothing else.

But who knows, maybe when/if the Arc'Teryx ever peters out, I'll look for a deal.

I tried on a cute Orange and Cream Kjus jacket today when I went to the shop to pick up my skis. It was a medium and a slim fit with the turtleneck I had on underneath. Hmmm I wonder if I would need a large to accommodate layers...

Just dreaming! But it sure was purdy! I've been digging orange lately.

I have tried on several Kjus jackets and pants and they are quality material! I don’t know if they justify the price – but I really like them. The sizes seem to run a little small. Let us know if you find any Kjus on a discount website!!

I can not bring myself to pay the prices for this gear. I have plenty of high quality gear for much less . When I've tried it on, I have not seen a 50-80% increase in performance equal to the increase in price over other top end brands. The style is distinctive but not 50-80% cuter either.

I'm actually looking to get a Kjus on the recommendation of a friend who says it's THE BEST jacket he has ever owned! I know they cost a lot, but he assures me it is money well spent!

Altho a great fan of Kjus, I must say I don't like the new range with the graded colour.

But what is it with these Norwegians and fabulous ski wear? Between Kjus and Helly Hansen, they have a whole section of the skiwear market stitched up!

Are there any fab Swedish labels out there I haven't hear of?

I think Peak Performance is Swedish. And Haglofs. And I like the styling of their stuff (mostly PP) better than i like Kjus. Still can't buy PP in the US, though, I don't think. But you are in UK, right? Haglofs has some cool things, but more basic backcountry type.

We also have Bergans, Norrøna, Stormberg, Kari Traa, Sweet, etc. Plus it seems like all skiers have their own brand as well... Most of the brands are expensive, but they are really good clothes.

The swedes have Klättermusen. Really nice clothes, but they do not fit my shape unfortunately. I would like to have some clothes that not all Norwegians use, but not easy if you buy them here in Norway.

Backcountry has Norrøna Lyngen windstopper pants on sale. Anyone have any experience/opinions? What are windstoppers like compared with others?

I love the new Kjus with the faded color, particularly the black and the turquoise. Doubt I'll ever own one, though, due to price. :(

North Face makes a jacket called "Fates", which is an attempt at fading the colors from top to bottom, but the artistry of the Kjus far exceeds anything by North Face. Is the Kjus jacket worth 3X as much? - somehow I can't justify it. I'd rather buy new skis and keep my old jacket.
