So. Gear guides are out! And the Volkl Kiku is getting some extremely good praise. Best in it's category. And the Aura? Hmmmmm, had a hard time finding it...

Am I going to have to buy these instead??? :help:

I'm pretty sure they're just advertising the Kiku hard because it's the new model. The Aura is still around.

But as far as choosing goes - the Aura is a better all around ski and the Kiku is the women's version of the Gotama. Lots of people out West use the Gotama as an everyday ski, but admittedly it's a little hard to get short turns out of, etc. So if you're okay with that and want better powder performance - the Kiku is the way to go. If you have other skis for groomer days - the Kiku is probably a good choice. But if you only are going to have one ski - I'd go with the Aura.

I am really curious about all this hype over the Kiku, I want to flex a pair to see what the deal is unfortunately I haven't seen them in shops yet around here. Also, since the aura seems to have done really well for volkl I'm surprised they have been left out of pretty much all the major magazine gear guides. I guess volkl is really pushing the Kikus, I'm interested to see how it compares to the gotama.

If it's an everyday ski you're looking for you can't go wrong with the aura, and if you are a strong skier and want something a bit stiffer take a look at the mantra.

That said though, if you really like fat skis and ski out west then the gotama/kiku may be your everyday ski. I have found the gotama to be very maneuverable for a fat ski and super fun even on the east coast. but i love my fat skis

Hmmm. I do ski West of the Mississippi, and I do have another pair of skis for groomers... But, as much as you all are such a good influence, I think I want to be a one-ski-wonder. =) We'll see though. Demo day might have me thinking otherwise.

Grrr. I just don't know! Anyone have an extra $1000 sitting around?? =P
