Question: K2 Lotta Luv

Skierchick

Diva in Training
Hello,

I was looking all over for Volkl Aura's but couldn't find any good deals. Instead I purchased K2 Lotta Luv. I am really excited yet nervous to try them out without skiing on them because I have never skied on K2's before. I have read they are a great all mountain ski but that is about it.

Are there any tips to the trade? Tips for skiing on new skis or is it just the same as your old ones? I can't remember what size they are, maybe 170 somthing? The guy trying to find me skis told me that they were too big for me but I said my current ones are 180s and I love them. My twins are 152 and I feel are way toooo small.

I have a need for speed and love to go fast. These are rather heavy and I think that they are good. Am I gonna forget how to turn on them since they are so heavy?

Any advice and reassurance that I made a good choice would be appreciated. You know you always have doubts until you ski on them for the first time. I did buy boots a few years ago and hated them so I hope that doesn't happen.:ski2:

I love mine! They're going on their third season and they're my only ski. They may seem heavy, but that's only carrying them from the truck. I'm not real beefy, but can move them around just fine. They're a lot of fun in the chopped up crud. I like to think of them as 4wd's. They aren't real great on the ice, so I just point 'em straight and let 'em rip. Have fun and let us know how that first run goes!

I assume you have integrated bindings which is why they are so heavy. I bought Lottas last year and thought the 160 length would be fine. (I'm 5'6" and about 115 lbs....less on my lighter days.) The weight of the ski (with integrated bindings) in that length just felt too much for me. As well, they just seemed to weigh me down on our longer lifts here in Telluride.

If you're really light, the ski may bother you some, although you might get used to it. If your average weight or so, you'll have no problem.

I bought flat Lottas in a shorter 156 length this year, and I think I'm going to be really happy with them. I'm no fan of integrated bindings...

I've had the Lottas without the integrated bindings (may the one RIP) and my news Lottas have the integrated bindings. They're both heavy. In fact, all of my Luvs (Burnin' & Phat) are heavy. But, that is with carrying them or getting them on & off the car. On the snow I don't consider them "heavy" I consider them "sturdy".

I demoed the Lotta once and was very impressed. It plowed through chop, danced through moguls, and hung on like a dream on the steeps. No issues with weight. They didn't have all that much stability at speed, but hen again, that's not really what they're designed for...

I just bought a used pair of these today. I can't wait to ski them. I went down to 153 from my old skis that were 160's. Now I just need it to snow.:snow:
