Since there isn’t going to be anymore skiing for us this year I started on putting gear up, taking inventory of what I might look for on sale to prepare for next year.
One thing I wondered was whether my younger daughter in junior boots could step up into her sister’s old skis for next year—they have adult demo bindings.
After some searching I came across this info and thought it might be helpful for other divas.
Seems about 22/22.5 is a common break point for manufacturers to change from child to adult boot sole/lug norms. If you want to check a pair of boots you can measure:
For ISO 5355 boots
Adult: 69 mm width, toe height 19 mm, heel height 30 mm
Child: 61 mm width, toe height 15 mm, heel height 27 mm
It turned out my daughters 22.5 boots indeed use the adult sole dimensions so compatible with use in her sister’s bindings. One less thing to buy for next year!
