John Oates & Phat Luvs

So has anyone else caught the article in this month's SKIING magazine about John Oates (of Hall & Oates fame), sans mustache, living and knee-dipping in Aspen on nothing other than K2 PHAT LUVS??? I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Great article, he sounds like he has a great sense of humor and looks like someone I'd kill to ski with at Snowmass. I may just have to go a-stalking during the Diva Summit. :ROTF:

Hall and Oates are from the area of PA where I used to live. Daryl Hall was from Pottstown, and John Hall from North Wales, which was the town next to mine. When I went to Aspen a few years ago, some of the people I was with knew him from home and actually spotted him on the slopes. It was funny to hear them call, "Hey Johnny!"

Ha!! I love John!! He lives right up the street from me. We actually gave him our Hen for the winter because he has a nice coop....long story.

Too funny!! He comes into the Tavern all the time with his kids. I'll have to bust his ass about the Phat Luvs, I had no idea. Also - the SNL skit they did with Hall & Oates was funny too...

No -- a little confusion here. The Diva Summit is going to be in Summit County, CO. That's quite a ways from Snowmass, unfortunately :(. I love Snowmass, too.

Finally got around to reading the article last night then saw this thread. to John Oates for bucking the macho! He'll have company in that regard: I fully expect that DH (slightly taller, not by much) to be grabbing my Dynastar EL Powders on what few (:() real powder days we get here, as they are currently the widest among both quivers. Complete with female insignia! He'll care about as much as JO does. "Use what works!" (or--what's in the gear closet?) Good for him, for the lifestyle as much as the ski choice!

The Hen

Ok here goes.

So this crazy artist chick has a studio next to me and one day (about last April) she approaches and asks: "Can I use your chicken coop and put my chickens in it?" Naturally, I say "Of course, but I have a dog and so do the neighbor dudes, so if you find your chickens eaten then don't come a-knockin."

She says: "Ok that's cool, I'll put a better door on."

So a few days later i see her out there with a box and inside 2 TINY baby chicks. A rooster and a hen. Adorable little suckers. So I ask Hilary: "What are you going to do with these chickens?"

"Make soup out of them" she replies. Hmmm...slightly confused as to when this soup would be eaten I said, "well as long as I get some soup out of it, the chickens are welcome in my coop."

So the chickens grow and grow over the summer. The neighbor dudes dog, Chuck, eats the rooster one day - but according to Hillary that was OK because (and I quote) "the rooster was a ********************************." So we were down to just a Hen and the Hen was friendly and nice and managed to escape the wrath of Chuck and my dog (my lab was petrified of the thing). The Hen grows up to a beautiful red & black thing - I guess they were some prize winning Georgia Red hens or something.

Hillary had a change of heart and couldn't make soup out of it because she started liking the damn hen (it would sit on her shoulder as she walked around). We didn't have a suitable home for the hen in the winter so we asked John Oates (I guess he has some pimp-pad hen coop or something) and he took our hen.

the end. (I live in Woody Creek. I strongly suggest visiting there if any of you come to Aspen. Things like this are pretty much par for the course.)

that's a great story! I appreciate it even more after watching my (swamp) dog chasing the neighbors chickens yesterday. She just wanted to play, but they didn't know that! Feathers everywhere, it was hilarious!

That's the best story I've heard since the "wet hen in pool" thread!

If you could only have pictures to go with the story - you'd probably pee in your pants!

"oh those are the people in your neighborhood...in your neighborhood....in your neighborhoooooood!!" :loco:

I love the fact that there have been hen stories from two separate divas.
