Japan powder skiing w/some groomers for our Adult family

Hello,
Our adult family ages 40 to 76, total of 6 are looking to ski in Japan in January 2026. Our home mountains are Alyeska, Alta and Brundage. We like colder snow. We have some powder seekers, but also some that like short powder runs that can get to a groomer if needed. Would love to hear from those of you that may have experienced this. Resorts, accommodations, the works would be appreciated.

I’m plotting a trip to Hakuba late Jan/Early Feb. I chose Hakuba because of the shorter travel time, lodging availability, train service, and it is on my pass.

If you don't mine and prefer colder snow, I suggest staying up north at a Hokkaido resort. We enjoyed visiting loads of really small resorts instead of the bigger well known ones which we also visited. Some of the smaller places don't groom a whole lot during storm cycles which would fit your needs. Others, with more skiers and riders, ended up with bumps pretty fast on the groomers after storms.

Welcome! If I were planning a trip to Japan, I'd be reading the Aussie ski forum and then starting a thread there for specific questions.

Here's the general planning thread for last season for Hokkaido:

The Aussies have lots of experience with all types of ski trips to Japan. Here's the planning thread for the upcoming season.

While there are Divas with Japan experience, not sure how many are around during the summer months.
