I had a d!$# skunk crawl through the dog door on my garage and spray both my dogs, hardwoods, sprayskirts, drytops, bikes, tools, and the list goes on....I am having the worst time with the dogs because I can't leave them in the garage now until I get that cleaned up ( recycling the smell ), I can't leave them outside after I wash them, it's too cold, they've both suffered two washings with tomato juice and other classic remedies. One is pretty much better, but the other one, just can't tolerate the cold water as well and I just can't get the smell out of her. We are about 30-40 minutes from a groomer or anywhere where I can wash her inside and fear that I would never get the smell out of my car if I had to give her a ride in there. Does anyone have any brilliant remedies for any of the above? I'd say I have my hands full. Although it's not snowing here it is pretty cold out. Any folk wisdom?

Nannymins is a recipe that I've often heard may work. Been told Crest tooth paste works well. Tried that once. They smell like toothpaste when all is said & done. Our last G.Shepherd got skunked regularly. Several times a month. But he had his own recipe. He would wipe himself all over the grass, & then dunk his head in his water bucket. Roll & wipe on the grass some more. Never smelled of skunk afterwards. I suspect the green grass & chlorophyll may have a lot to do with it. Abrasive & neutralizing. So maybe go mow the lawn & rub them all over with the grass clippings ?? If you need to bath with warm water outside, there is a $2.00 part , threaded,to screw a kitchen faucet in place of the aerator, garden hose threads onto it, out the window, & there you have warm water for a bath. If grass worked for my dog, I wonder if a few bunches of parsley would work ???
