So, this coming weekend is our second to last of the season. I've decided to make a big deal out of it and have a huge culminating accomplishment for all of them.
So, on Saturday I'll gather 5 (2 of my girls will be missing as they made Nastar Nationals!) little ones and head for the Poma lift at Copper Mountain. The Poma at Copper is a somewhat scary piece of equipment mainly because as the pole grabs the rope it tends to pull you off the ground a little (even me at around 200 lbs
). So, I've rallied the troops and we'll have more adults than kids present. My family will be in town and so my dad (who was my head coach!), uncle and others will be on duty along with a parent or two or other family member for each child. Plan of action is to have an adult follow every child up and if for some reason they fall mid-way up that adult will also exit with the child to go back down and try again. One coach will be at the top with them and one at the bottom both on radios until each and every child makes it all the way to the top. This will be the most challenging part for sure.
Then on to the skiing part. We're gonna hit Spaulding Bowl!
I'm going to send my family down the slope to get pictures of the kids skiing it individually which I'll have printed and framed next week for their end of season gifts and each child will have an adult following to help pick them up if they go over. My DBF and and I did some exploration and found the best line for them to take and get across the traverse to the lower run.
I'm super excited for this event but nervous at the same time. But, all of the parents have been told for weeks and they are all on board. So, if you're at Copper this Saturday you might want to avoid the Poma around 1pm unless you want to see this event. Otherwise, everyone send out their good vibes for a fun, rewarding experience for all involved.
I'll post pictures next week for y'all!
