Each year we have a bonfire for my daughter's class. Well, last night we had about 12 of the kids over for the bonfire. 15 minutes after arrival one of the little girls fell off the playset and broke her wrist! :injured::eek::Cry: Poor thing. She was such a trooper too.

Today, the kids and I took her a gift box with:

A Bee Movie (In case you don't feel like getting up and playing yet).
A Webkinz (because they're PERFECTLY safe).
SweetTarts (because youre' SO sweet).
Nerds (even though we know you're NOT a nerd).
A t-shirt (because you're going to need lots of short-sleeved shirts you can put over your cast).
Chocolate croissants (because they make EVERYTHING better).
A one-handed cup.

I feel particularly bad because her dance recital is tomorrow and she can't dance in it now. :( I just wish it had been one of MY kids. KWIM? :noidea:

You know I should feel bad, but I've been round kids a lot and I can see the sit com-ish type humour in this situation. Tell her to dance in the recital anyway. The cast will be so cool in the pictures 10 years from now!

The problem is that she took her to our podunck hospital here in town (instead of the one I told her to take her to) and they didn't cast it yet! She only has a splint and it's only broken part way so if she fell she could break it clean through. They're going to let her walk across the stage in her costume doing something.

My mom has a picture of me in a splint and a tutu, from my 1st dance recital.
I should see if she'll get me a copy of it.
I think I was in second trade, with my front tooth missing too! :D

It's always rough when something happens to a kid on your watch. Gotta keep in mind that accidents happen, and you never know who, where or when. I'm glad she's a trooper, and it sounds like a nice care package you guys gave her. Bummer about the recital and the splint! At least they're getting creative and letting her stay involved.

SnowHot, let's see this pic! Do you remember what the injury was from?

I hit a rock and went over the handle bars on my bike.
I also broke my nose in that crash, but it was healed, pretty much, by the time of the recital.
