Is plaid the new fad?

On the slopes today I noticed that a number of people are sporting plaid jackets and pants. I think most of them were 1) young, and 2) boarders. Is this just something I never noticed before (I can be sort of oblivious) or is this the new thing?

Actually, I think it's camouflage-plaid that is the new fad!! Look again, you will see both plaid regular, and plaid camo!!

It seems like plaid is in everywhere, from regular clothes the ski clothes, to riding breeches. I saw a teenage girl wearing head to toe plaid (including bootcovers and helmet cover) at a stable the other day.

Bet it was easy for her parents to pick her out!

Haven't seen (or maybe just noticed) the plaid camo yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for that!!!!

I've defnitely noticed that a lot of the younger snowboarders and freestyle skiers are wearing head-to-toe patterns in general. I noticed it a little at the end of last season, and considerably more this season. The US snowboard team wore patterned stuff at the last Olympics, too.

I gotta admit, I'd be into purple plaid skipants if I liked everything else about them too. I'd just keep it at a one plaid piece maximum. Head to toe matching just isn't for me, with one exception- black.

Pink Plaid camo. You know, for blending into the pink plaid forest.

fashion fads for those who like that stuff

Also black and white and black and other stripes, checks, houndstooth. Kinda like a prison look. Hmmmmm...

It's all over the place, the plaid & the pinstripe. I just look at them and think, I'll be able to wear my jacket/pants and still show my face in public in 2-3 years. Just my opinion, the guys look like they raided the goodwill box with all of grandpa's old golf pants. The girls do a little better at carring it off, as long as only one item is plaid. OK, I'm not real fond of the plaid trend.
What looked really weird (to me) was the 6'2" +/- boarder (guy) that showed up wearing the "Sean White pinstripe" like the one the Olympic Boarders wore. Pants and jacket, head to toe white with black pinstripes. It just looked odd, maybe that's the look in Aspen/Vail or the other ritzy places, but it looked extremely out of place at my ski hill then again, there is a reason we call it the "trailer park".
