Is it weird to ski the same ski as your SO?

Obviously I think not. But I just demoed the Mantras yesterday & it sparked a debate with our crew.

I fell in love with these skis & want to hurry up & buy them so I can love them the rest of the season. My SO skis the Mantras & he thinks it's weird. Other guys in the group thought it might be a little strange too....but of course all the ladies were like "who cares!!!"

So I think I'm buying them anyway - but would any of you care??

Get em and their yours. Because we've always had friends with ski shops, frequently Hubby and I are on the same skis, different length. Poles too for that matter. It was the matching "instructor suits" that would get people if we weren't teaching at the time with a travelling ski club.

If the SO has a problem with it, sweetly tell him that you will cover his top sheets with wood grain contact paper for him, so he won't be so *embarrassed.*

Yay! Good for you! A friend, who is a graphic artist, actually painted portions of her top sheet to make her skis unique. You could do the same with your Mantras to make them your very own. Congratulations on your decision!!

My husband and I both have 185 Praxis with the Black Smoke graphic. I put huge neon pink daisy stickers on mine. The added bonus is that everyone knows they're mine and you can spot them a mile away now.

It's not the first time we've had the same skis. Back when we met, we both had X-Screams. So did most of our friends - we'd go on trips with everyone on the same skis. Then when we were dating we bought a pair of "joint" skis that we shared.

And we both have the same downhill bike and trail bike too. We tried not to, but you you find what really works and is a good deal... it's hard to just get something else for the sake of being different. I just try to customize things to make them a little more my own. My DH bike just got pink camouflage rims and is going to be painted white with a pink sparkle. :D

Get the skis already! Yes, my husband and I have had the same skis (different lengths). First it was the Pocket Rocket, now we both have Public Enemies.

You love the Mantras, they work well for you, and it shouldn't matter if your BF has the same ski. Just proves that you both have good taste in skis.

Tell him to bite you . He should be happy you rip enough to be comfortable on the same skis .

We have many of the same skis: 2004 6* (his 175, mine 168), Karma (his 2005 185, mine 2004 177) 2004 P60SL (his 165, mine 155) and our race skis (his 2004 P60GS 180, mine 2006 Racetiger GS 180).

One day he went skiing while I was at work and discovered, much to his chagrin, that he had grabbed my 6* on his way out the door. He ended up doing a lot of driving for a little bit of skiing that day

Tell him if he's that concerned, he can just buy another pair of skis and you'll buy his Mantras for a nice discount. :D

Or, if he doesn't like that idea, tell him he ought to be proud that his gal can ski tough guy skis. It takes a strong guy to be with a strong girl. My ultra-expert-skier ex-BF last year actually thought my intermediate-advanced self was trying to show him up when I happily reported I'd finally conquered one of the more difficult runs at my area- "hmph. That was hard when I was twelve," was his response. AND he was fond of pointing out, over and over, how I'd never be able to manage his Atomic Big Daddies.

No - rant on! Men.... ...... I remember last season when DH rolled his eyes at me when I said I was skiing a particular run top to bottom with no stops. Yeah right, MSL, you can do that, sure.

Update. BF has accepted the terms.

It also helped when my friend who heads up the Snowmass Ski Patrol told him that it was nonsense & that he should be happy he has a girlfriend who can rip on men's skis. It also helps that this said patroller has a little thing for me...:ROTF:

I've got 2 emails & a voicemail into my Volkl contact who can get me the skis though pro-form. I don't know how cheap that will make them - so we'll see. Now if he just will call me back....I'll be OH SO happy!! Does he not realize I need my new skis - NOW?

My husband wishes I skied more unisex skis these days because he likes being able to share skis with me.

A few weeks ago he skied on my Eos, just for kicks and ended up loving them. A guy on the Goddess of Dawn!!! Now that is weird!!!
My main ski last year was the nordica nitrous and I was going to sell it at the end of the season. He made me keep it for him.

If your guy is smart he'll be happy you have good taste and hope he can pick up your hand me downs when you done with them.

I am really only attracted to guys who think chicks who shred are hot, not threatening! My bf drew the line on skiing on my Femme Fatales (with FEMME FATALE written in huge letters on the tips), but aside from that he doesn't mind one bit that I'm a better skier than him.
