Intrawest buys Steamboat!

Now wouldn't it be nice if my Tremblant pass was good too. There is a news release on the Intrawest site and also on SkiPresse. I only hope that Steamboat doesn't change. Tremblant is terrible for consumer service and attitude. Some people think its a French/Quebec thing. I don't know, attitude works its way down from the top levels of management.

Jilly,

If they add it to your lift ticket will you come here and ski?

We think it is a French/Quebec thing. The employees at Copper/Winter Park are the friendliest around.

They've been good to season pass holders too. When I got injured on Jan. 11 Copper reimbursed me some of my unused days. With my Vail pass I didn't even bother to request an refund.

I'm hoping the new owners of Intrawest don't change the culture of Copper and Winter Park.

Its only Tremblant. Even the other resorts in the Laurentains are better. Also I never had any problems with customer service at Whistler or Panorama. Would I like to go to Colorado??? Just can't take the altitude. Found that out the hard why at Copper in 1989. I think I devoured a whole bottle of Advils. Since then its been the lower mountains of the Canadian rockies! Just for interest what did your dual pass cost. Are there any restrictions?? My pass for 7 days a week, any time at Tremblant was over $1000.00 Cdn. I think we're getting ripped off!

intrawest owns Stratton in Vermont, and it seems to me they're more interested in real estate development than in anything else. They built this snooty Stratton Mountain Club in the base area, where people pay an astronomical sum to have their OWN base lodge (to keep the riff-raff like you and me out), their OWN special parking area, and their OWN special lift line. Why not just have their OWN mountain and be done with it????

Tremblant has a "VIP" only lift line for the Gondola. This is for the condo owners in the village. They get a different ski pass that show they are VIP's. BS if you ask me. Most owners are in it for the money they make and most only ski 1-2 weeks a year if at all. Most live in the states or Europe. We keep hoping that the buy out by Fortress will change things around, but I think because there hasn't been any change in management except Joe Hussein, nothing is going to happen. Fortress will get rid of the deadwood - not making any money resorts and keep the profitable ones. They won't try to fix anything, just get rid of it. We know from Tremblant that Intrawest is into condo development not skiing (or golf for that matter!).

Wow, that's $850 US. My season pass at Copper/Winter Park with the Women's Wed. lesson season pass was $650.

Without the lesson pass the Copper/WP pass was $349 early season.

When Intrawest took over management of Winter Park we were able to ski Winter Park that season for no additional cost.

Pricing in April will be interesting, who's going to have the best deal, Vail Resorts or Intrawest?

Someone do a US$ to Canada$ conversion - this is making my head spin!

PS Special lift lines of any kind are just REALLY ugly. Part of what's special anywhere is meeting peopole on the lift. Tremblant seems to take the fun out of that. BOO!
