This article is a few years old, but is referenced time and time again online... and the explanation makes sense. I decided to try it out this season and it really does help with my stamina and lets me stay on the mountain longer.

One modification that I've made is to remove the jump-lunges. That move is just a sprained ankle waiting to happen! I can get through 4 rounds, working up to 5. You won't feel it directly afterwards, but as soon as you have to climb a set of stairs you'll feel like a new-born calf
