I'm such a Jacket Slut!

Well, that's where I found the pic of the color I want that I can post. I have a friend that works for The North Face.

Someone that works at North Face is better than Buckmans!

I hope the blacks match better IRL... the jacket won't be arriving until Friday at the earliest.

Okay, Divas I need help. I found out this evening that I may not be able to get ahold of the jacket I posted above in that color for the price I can afford. So here are my options. A different coat or a different color. I am really trying to do something other than brown or black on top because darnit, I'm proud of the work I've done on my body this year and tired of hiding in black! But, the only other lighter color in this jacket is white and while it's beautiful, I'm worried it will look like crap in just a couple of weeks. So, here are some pics, what do y'all think? Or, if you know of another North Face jacket I should consider speak up. Also, I'd really like to do non-black (although brown is okay) pants cause I've never ever owned ski pants that weren't black.

The green. I know to me it seems kind of iffy when I consider it, but when you see it on, it's really nice. There is alot of it this year and the spring color wheel is heading in that traditional primary direction too. Very very few pastels. So if you want to be fashion forward...

I tried to be an even bigger floozy, but I hesitated ... there were Arc'teryx Fission jackets on SAC tonight for $56.99 ... that's a $450 jacket!! I SO don't need it, but who could pass that up? I could resell it to a lucky Diva, or give it for Christmas, or wear it ...

But I sat and thought about it before clicking, and I was too late. Oh well.

Robyn, I recently bought the green jacket that you show in a dark brown. I'll be wearing off white bottoms with it. It's a great jacket and looks nice and toasty. I won't have it at the Summit because it's too heavy to pack (will pack my Cloudveil shell and layers for underneath as that will be more versatile for various conditions), but I expect to use it quite a bit here in the Northeast.

I like the green as well and judging by how that hat looks on you in your avatar pic, I think it would be a great color for you. And green is easy to spot on the hill too :-) for all your ski friends!

BTW, I ordered the jacket directly from North Face, which I will never do again. I am having a terrible problem with returning another item from that order. The FedEx delivery confirmation shows that it was received by NF on August 28. I have called NF three times and they still have not been able to find the box in the warehouse or credit me for the return, and it's a $149 return!

Go for the green Robyn!
As for the other topic of this thread.... it's best for me to remain silent!

I probably would have leapt on that... it's not what you spent, it's what you saved, right?

Robyn - I vote for the green. Nice choice! :D I'm all for more color. I really didn't intend to go with all black this season... but I happened upon an awesome deal on the bottoms (originally $185 marked down to $55!) and the jacket fell into place because of the color options available in my size that would work with the pants (you know, not brown + black). I'm excited for you! I can't wait to see the new svelte you in your new ski outfit, whichever you decide! :D

Uh-oh, are you saying that I don't match? You're trying to make me go shopping aren't you? You are right, I don't match, but the coat was darn near free so is that a good enough excuse? :D

Wow, didn't expect that! But, cool. I'm heading to the brand new North Face store (opens this Friday) in Cherry Creek in the next week or so and I'll try it all on then and then put the order in to my source. Hopefully she can get this one. I do like the pattern in the other one but wish it were a bit more brightly colored.

The green is great. The patterned one might look brighter than it does in the photo. It's such a good idea to be able to try them on first and see the real colors and how they look on you. Good Luck - I hope you find one you love at the right price.

It's all pretty silly, isn't it? I REALLY want that fleece that keeps showing up on SAC that's white and brown. BADLY. And white is a bad color for me because I keep getting grease stains on my ski clothes from the lifts. But I talk myself out of it every time because even though there's very little brown on it, I tell myself that the brown + black combo is a no-no so I can't buy it unless I'll be buying more ski pants, too. And I don't want to buy more because I should have lost a lot more weight than I did.

I know, I'm crazy. :loco:

Oh Sev, it's a viscous cycle. I got the pants about a month before the jacket and didn't "pick" the color of the jacket. I talked myself out of new pants all yearlong until the end and then grabbed a pair of colored softshell pants right at the end. It was a bad choice, although they were a good deal, they aren't even my size. What was I thinking? I just needed to get over the "urge". Gone. But just a couple days ago, UPS man came with a box full of smartwool socks. Now you see what a slut I am. I sincerely could have bought new pants that fit or matched for the price of the socks in that box. New socks are my addiction. I'm bad, bad, bad.
