I'm such a Jacket Slut!

I have that shell in yellow and green w/ yellow bibs. Love it!
I have a pair of Yellow bibs too. Maybe if we ski together we can be twins!

First of all, thank you for starting this thread nearly 20 years ago (is that right?), and second of all, what brand is that jacket? It looks great, but I don't recognise the brand name on the breast pocket
Wow 2008??? Time flies

Its a Fly Low Lucy Jacket. The bibs are Helly Hansen Powder Queen

That tricolor jacket is FlyLow. Great products. A bit pricey, but good sales end of season on their website, and here and there, although color selection/sizes may be limited. My pink bibs under the Spyder jacket are Flylow Foxy “Taffy” , half price as color was being discontinued. They have great colors.
I got my FlyLow at Sierra Trading post here in Reno for 130.00!!!

I have the chili bibs and lynx jacket in my shopping cart as we speak
It can be dangerous to live so close ot a Sierra Trading Post.

I will say, a majority of my golf outfits were purchased at STP over the past two summers because the tops and bottoms averaged $19.99/each, compare it to original pricing of $70-90.00.

When hanging out in Reno with @mustski we went to Sierra.... I got a burgundy puffy smartwool skirt (reg $120) for $15 on clearance and a YETI cup. There was NOTHING wrong with the skirt.... extra small size but fit me!

I live in the same town as TJX corporate. They have Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Sierra Trading Post, Home Sense and Home Goods all very close each other. Very dangerous for me with all the deals. STP is my favorite store though - I have found great deals on golf attire as well.

I couldn't help myself but add to this thread because I love the title and because I finally caved today and bought a Spyder jacket I've been eyeing for a couple of months. On sale but still pricey for me. But I couldn't stop talking through justificatios to myself, reading online reviews, and thinking about it while on the slopes! (Full disclosure, I tried it on again yesterday but then bought a Columbia omnitech 3-in-1 that was half the price and seemed the sensible option. The Columbia was too cold on its first ski run today, and I caught myself looking at EVERYONE'S jackets and realised I just needed to get the Spyder). Bought it and haven't stopped smiling, it's super comfy, Goretex, the hood actually fits over a helmet and is also detachable. I'm loving the 80s retro. I'm so vain, but so happy!
Looks terrific so enjoy it :D

I feel like I'm slacking. I've started noticing tiny wear holes in my jacket. I just looked it up and I bought it in Oct 2018! I don't mind having an excuse to shop for a new one, but I'm so used to the number and placement of the pockets that I'm worried that I'll be setting an impossibly high bar for my next one.

Finding a women’s jacket with enough pockets is a tough search. Finding an affordable one adds another dimension.

I’m not sure when I got mine, but this past week I noticed it’s fading, in patches. One of the zippers is now a bit wonky, too. It doesn't even get that much use, for heaven’s sake. I got the pants I wear it with in 2016, so that’s probably when I got the coat. Is it time? Pants are still great, and still get compliments, so I’m not retiring them.

I’m slacking too. Current jacket shows small holes, worn torn seams, etc.; it’s definitely past its prime. I’m sick of seeing it in my skiing photos. Yet I love this thread and enable you all whenever I can!

I gave my other good jacket to @skibum4ever . I never loved the color even though it’s attractive and warm.

Must lose 10 lbs and utilize the new ones hanging in the closet

Seeing how many years I've gotten out of my current one, I'm going to try not to pay too much attention to the price if it checks enough other boxes, of which there are many. Pockets, obviously. Venting, including placement of vents (my shell doesn't have pit zips, for some reason it has tit zips. Why?) Waterproof and breathability ratings. Insulation. Fit. Colour. Minimal velcro (I'm tired of snagging all of my merino shirts.) Fabric (not too stiff or noisy.) .... If I by miracle find one to tick -all- of the boxes, I will gladly pay for it.

While I didn't need a new jacket, the black Marmot I've been using doesn't have pit zips so it's not the best when it's sunny and temps are on the warmer side. Wandered into Boot Doctors at Taos Ski Valley to check out what was on sale. Ended up with a new jacket that fit, has pit zips, and has great pockets. The hood works well over my helmet as a bonus. Confirmed that on a snowy day this past week. The brand is Picture Organic, which is French.

There are two horizontal large breast pockets that zip, and two pouch style lower pockets with snap flaps and zippers that can hold a lot. There is one vertical zip interior pocket big and deep enough for my phone. Also an interior mesh pocket.

That’s really a nice jacket. I have an insulated HH jacket w pit zips. All my shells have pit zips but it’s a nice feature for an insulated jacket.

I used to shop online with STP, but when I moved to the actual Sierra, I found the local location. I know that corporate has changed with TJX but still, so many good finds in these remote locations.

So now that the Stio double charge arrived, I’m rethinking it. I like drop pockets inside and there aren’t any. I guess my bibs can carry more….hmmmm

How are you liking this jacket? How are the pockets?
It's a great jacket for cold days. Pockets are plentiful and the cell phone pocket is great as protects the battery. Fit is pretty true to size but I'd say it is not a long jacket - maybe to your hips depending on size. I got an XS which is my typical size. It has mesh pit zips which is great if needed. Truly, I only wear it on the coldest of days. Jackets come and go but I will keep this one for a long time. Getting ready to send some ski clothing to gear trade if anyone my size and interested in a barely used Mountain Force red jacket size XS or a gently used pair of bright pink Kjus pants...
