I'm getting an E-bike!

Just picked her up today. Looking forward to going for my first bike ride tomorrow. Just going to ride around the access road and adjacent neighborhood to get comfortable. Have thule rack, just need to get hitch installed in the next week or two.

Got my first taste tonight when I rode uphill from car to condo locker room. Started pedaling uphill and even in economy mode I just went uphill with ease. I'm already hooked.

Can't wait for the adventures to come

E Bikes are addicting. I mostly use mine to tool around and do small errands but its so much fun and breaks up the montony driving.

Enjoy!

First ride was yesterday.

I love my new bike. I’ve already gotten several compliments on it by friends I ran into on my ride. It felt great to get out there on a fairly early (for me) morning. Aside from downhill mountain biking 7 years ago I hadn’t been on a bike in a LONG time. Our condo in Vermont is at Magic mountain so i rode around there to get comfortable.

I walked it down to the lower parking lot as I was afraid to ride on gravel downhill at first. Rode around there for a minute and then rode downhill past lot B and was feeling more comfortable. Rode all around the various parking lots playing with the different modes and dropper post positions. I kept it in eco mode most of the time. I wasn't interested in a throttle and was mainly interested in assistance on the climb so my pedal assist is just what i was after.

After riding all around the parking lots and the upper access road on gravel I was feeling more comfortable, so I ventured on the paved access road and into the circle neighborhood for a bit. So fun. I stopped at one point and just took it all in appreciating the quiet morning and the beauty around me.

One thing I noticed and loved is the rock-solid feeling I felt while riding on the loose gravel and rocky road. My tires and bike didn’t waver. I only did 4 or so miles because my toe was slightly unhappy at being in a shoe, so I didn’t want to overdo it. I had toe surgery 3 weeks ago so still babying my toe a bit.

A fun morning of biking. I plan to do more cross country and single track, but I need more practice, so I’ll get there eventually. My hitch will be installed in the next couple weeks but until then my bike fits entirely in my Tiguan without having to remove the front wheel which makes me happy.

I’ve found my summer activity that will make me a little wistful when ski season arrives. I’m looking forward to my next ride.

My hitch was on sale today so scooped it up for 173. Likely have it installed in the next week or so. Bike is home in our garage. Brought rack home today. Now that i know i can fit my bike in my car I'll likely head over to norbrook Friday. Not ready for cross country trails yet but they have lots of gravel roads and a long gravel area back where they allow camping so i can ride all over there.

Babys first full charge. Sure happy with being able to bring battery inside to charge.

Wow! Nice-looking bike. I can see how charging the battery inside is convenient.
Happy trails!

Mountain biking is so much fun, especially on single tracks AND at ski resorts. I used to ride a lot for many years. Here in SC we have great mountain bike trails with ocean views and good climbs with lots of single tracks. Still take my old mtn bike out for rides along the cliffs but no longer do serious rides. In the past rode my mountain bike on the famous Flume trail in North Lake Tahoe as well as bike trails at Kirkwood, Northstar, and Palisades as well. I mostly ride my road bike now and have never been on an E bike but you do see them around here. I did chat with a woman one day who had an E bike that was a road bike - it was $14k and pretty slick looking !

I'm getting good at this. Looking forward to having my hitch installed so i can use the rack. I was initially worried about my bike being heavy and having a hard time getting it on my rack without a ramp. I can easily put my 52lb bike in my car so no longer worried about lifting it onto a rack lol

Wow ... 52 lbs that's half my weight !
Have fun ! It's amazing the bike fits in your car without taking the front tire off.
