I'm a Pants Slut!

These are great! I wear them around town in Taos -- they're amazingly warm and comfy: Women's Flexpedition Lined Straight Leg Pants from Duluth Trading. Not cheap, but well worth it, and they hold up, like all of Duluth's stuff does. And they're on sale right now (I only buy from Duluth when there are sales, LOL!).
Those look like they'd also work for chilly MTB rides! How is the sizing? I wear a 6 unless it's a very slim fit. I prefer a bit of room vs. super snug.

I'd say a big plus for the Duluth ones is the number of pockets. But the model only has half of her hand in the front pocket. Are the front pockets "women's" pockets or real pockets?

I don’t know about these specific pants, but my Duluth jeans and Dry on the Fly pants have full size front pockets. Such a luxury!

Sorry I took so long to reply -- been busy. Very comfortable, they're slightly stretchy, and you can choose your inseam length. 6 would probably work for you.

Pantaloons! Such a great word. I would've dated myself in calling them MC Hammer pants.
Back to the convo last Spring... I wonder if the "Pantaloons" will continue as a trend this Winter in the US! I never saw any in-person last winter, but I have definitely seen the MC Hammer style continue on in the world of Social Media.

They do look super comfy...

I envision myself getting them all twisted up then falling over. At least my Apple Watch will alert my husband if I do! LOL!

OK, SH and others have displayed their lust for ski jackets....and while I completely empathize, I've found a great longing for ski pants. I've been able to purchase 5 apirs of ski pants that match with one jacket.

Here we go...in one photo, from left to right:
Rip Curl, Patagonia, Oakley, Mountain Hardware, DNA.

Anyone else have a penchant for ski pants???
I consider myself one as well with 4 pairs. Girls on the bus are nicknamed "jazzypants". Since I'm 5'1" (and shrinking), Northface teen-girls large pants fit great. Have 3+ jackets too.. love northface and Patagonia quality. No more shopping for me!

Haven't seen them yet on the East coast.

Those look nice for regular hiking pants, but I'm looking for insulated. I did order the LL Beans ones recommended here and I'm excited to get them!

Have you checked out Title Nine for really cute warm tunics and leggings?

@santacruz skier I know that all the big brands (Title 9, Athleta, Lululemon...) seem to have winter leggings, but rather than order and return a bunch of stuff I thought I'd start with the tried and true for others here. You mentioned Patagonia; I stopped into their store when I was downtown last weekend but they didn't have the only really warm legging (the R1) shown on the website. I might just order that though. Tried on their warmest ski pants and somehow I was swimming in the S but couldn't get the XS fully on!

These are cute and look warm but as far as sizing goes..... ? I usually wear an extra small in Athleta, sometimes an XXS. https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=575881002&vid=1&searchText=Joggers#pdp-page-content We have a Patagonia outlet here in SC and mostly independent shops. No malls here.....no Nordstrom, no Lulu, no Athleta.
My two pairs of fleece lined leggings are from the outlet store. They often have current merchandise as well as a season old.
I need to go to San Jose if I really need to shop but always try here in SC first. We have a few nice shops that are independently owned and carry good brands.

Does Athleta hold up or is it fast fashion? I've never bought it.

I got the LL Bean polartec tights in the mail today and really like them! Thanks to those who recommended them.
Those look exactly like my Patagonia ones !
Yes Athleta holds up quite well. I have found that any fabric that is super soft (and not cotton) will tend to pill. And that goes for Athleta, Lulu, Alo Yoga, etc.

I think the athleta answer has changed in the past year. I used to swear by athleta leggings and I bought 3+ pairs in the middle of last year (some to replace the ones with issues) and they ALL had various issues from holes to threads coming out significantly at the seams after 1 wash/wear. I returned them all. Seems like they reduced quality for cost-cutting (and now feel more like fast fashion) so I went on the hunt for a new go-to legging brand. I really like constantlyvariedgear.com (CVG) leggings. So far the quality has been great. Sizing is similar to athleta (at least for me, M). I am M tall in athleta, CVG doesn’t come in lengths so they’re a little shorter than I’d like but passable. They mostly have crazy patterns, but you can get black and a couple other solid colors. CVG is also significantly less expensive than athleta.
I just bought some fleece lined CVG leggings. Haven’t tested them skiing or even walking in cold weather yet but the fleece lining is substantial, the waist is super high and the sizing is generous - perhaps even size down if you’re on the lower edge of your size. Looking forward to trying them out as a base layer.
I’ll add that my athleta altitude fleece leggings (purchased in previous years before I noticed a quality issue) have held up well and are extra stretchy so they layer well over another pair of leggings for very cold days. The athleta rainier tight is a nice material but they ALWAYS slide down on me. Very annoying.
I have tried bracelayer and tried on but returned CW-X as a supportive base layer for my knees (patellar tendon issues) but nothing has been supportive enough to replace my patellar knee braces. I’m considering stoko. I know there’s another thread specific to that type of legging. Just wish I could try them on before buying.
