Ideas for Presents

As we listed out handy things to have for skiing elsewhere someone commented on how useful it was to have these ideas to give as presents to the skiers in her life.

We probably have our own wish lists, and good ideas of what to buy for our SOs and family members.

I'd like one of those little squeegee wipers for my goggles, made of rubber it has a ring end which slips over the thumb of your glove and the other end comes up as a mini wiper blade. I've lost mine, and I've retired the gloves that had one on the material itself.

Yak Traks would be great as gifts.
Goggle Wipes for every pocket
Neck gaiters
Those retracting pulley things for lift passes and attaching to goggle wipes to return to pocket.
Small coin purse, to have photocopy of ID and Healthcare card with small change kept permanently in jacket pocket
Emergency whistle
EZ walkers (look good, but might be cumbersome)
Some way of telling the time that is not on my wrist under many many layers, and my phone is just as inaccessible.
Hair bands for mane management

I do covet a pair of La Canadienne shoes that appeared on the apres ski footwear thread, but they are out of my price range!

Lilabear, try these, for mane management, they really work.

:focus:

Some resorts have larger goggle wipes with a trail map on it. Bought one of those for my DH as a stocking gift (sssh) from Okemo where we ski and ride most Tuesdays.

Homemade gift certificates for massages apres ski? :becky:

My FIL decided to buy us a gift certificate from our local hill to help pay for lift tickets and lessons for the kids when they are all here for the holidays.

Working tonight at the local ski shop. (Gad what I do for cheaper skis!!)

locks
wax and/or tuning stuff
wallets with brand names for the teenagers
ski/board video's
toques (sorry ski hats!)
skull caps/balaclava's
ear bags (really strange looking ear muffs)
boot dryers
lease for snowboards

Geez I need to go shopping somewhere else!!

Let's see:

Cat Tracks
Dakota e-clip watch so I don't have to search through layers for my wristwatch
Kiehl's All-Sport Non-Freeze Face Protector SPF30
Little Swiss Army knife to attach to my daypack
Sigg water bottles

And for those techno-geeks:
Acer Aspire One netbook to put in the daypack to surf the web at lunchtime

This isn't really a ski gift (it can be), so I'm straying, but I love to give headlamps. They're so useful.

I thought there would be a pair of scissors at the end of that link. :eyebrows:
I'm seriously considering that option. Seriously. But, I know that shorter hair means more frequent hair cuts which I don't want either.

My hubby's stocking always has small items for the ski bag:

K-Tape for fixing the little cuts your edges make in the bottom of your ski pants.
Duct Tape cause you just always need it.
EmergenC packets for lunchtime
Little packs of tissues for pockets
Ski gum - it's essential and we always do blister packs so there's no trash to deal with.
Camelback bite valves to replace the yucky old ones.
Burts Bees lip balm
Multitools like the Leatherman Juice are really good to keep in your backpack for emergency repairs or cutting off old lift tickets.
And ski socks, you just can't ever have enough...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who carries around duct tape!

The EmergenC is a great idea. I buy it by the box. It's my morning drink as I head out the door to work. And, it's always in my daypack when I travel.

Another gift idea - super moisturizing hand cream!! My hands get brutalized in the winter. Now that I'm working outside this year, I have to be sure that I don't get the nasty cracked skin :-(
