I want Luv, but One, or Lotta?

I can't decide. No opps to demo. I'm told that for a two week a year skier, there's nothing I can improve on except equipment (so I know I can make the form smoother somehow) . For moderate speed carving, and all radius turns (I love sharp turns in the trees) what's the better ski? Powder...well, we ski New Mexico. I'm 5 6, about 160, and have always liked shorter skis for the tunring, but on a K2 and trying to step it up, do do I need to also move up to a 160? It seems long- my 154 salomons are even w/ my eyebrows...but when I ski on them, I feel like a little extra length may not hurt. HELP please. I'm on Divine 8 Boots. (nothin out of this world, but its what i could afford.)

Also is there a huge difference in the way a salomon and a k2 ski woudl feel? I remember the first parabolics i skiid on were K2 Two's, back in Utah. thanks for the advice!

I would stronglyn disagree with the "nothing to improve except equipment part". In fact, I feel it's the other way around. Until technique is improved, more expensive equipment won't make any difference.

That said, I think you could use a longer ski than 154. Though I'm not sure how Salomon measures their ski. 154 up to your eyebrows? Sounds like their 154 is really 160cm long...

For K2, I'm a little shorter and quite a bit lighter than you. I'm not very fast skier. I'm on a 153 K2 One Luv. It felt just barely long enough even for me! Too bad they don't come in 157.

For powder I'd probably go for the wider waisted of the 2 - I think Lotta Luv? I forget which it is. I notice a pretty big differene between K-2 and Salomon, and I prefer Salomons, but that could be just due to the models I've chosen. For my skiing style I get more rebound from Salomons, and I think K-2s are a bit heavier. But it is a matter of personal choice.

Yes, there's a huge difference in the feel of Salomons and K2s. The Salomons are typically light, lively, and snappy while the K2s tend toward damp, heavy, and sluggish (not in a negative way, just in comparison). Many women love confidence the K2s inspire because they're just smoooooth and mellow. Personally, they're not MY cup of tea.

Keep in mind, also, that K2s tend to ski long. Going to a 160 in a K2 will feel like a pretty big jump from your Salomon 154s. Without the demo opp, I'd suggest staying with your current size range if you're changing to the K2.

One luv better fror front side - zippy all mountain with front side bent
Lotta luv true all mountain wider under foot.
K2's are heavier but solid and confidence building- Not much experience with Saloman
Friend of mine thought she was buing the lotta luvs and ended up with One luvs, (ooops) turns out they were perfect for her. She is a speed demon-trying to keep up with her two boys in ski race camp.

Last year's Lotta Luv in a 160 is this year's Lotta Luv in a 163. Same ski, they just changed their way of measuring. That's why going up from a 154 will seem like a big change.

That said, my 160/163 Lotta Luvs are a great all-mountain ski.

I have last year's One Luvs in a 160, I cannot wait to ski them. I demo'd them last year and loved them.

Good luck with your purchase!
