I Purchased CARV

I might be wrong but I think what you are looking for is in the app. You can change the metric to see your progress in each one for day, month, and year. I was looking for the same info and just realized it is the bars at the top on the right side of the home page across from your name. View attachment 26080View attachment 26081View attachment 26082
Oh, will you look at that! Thank you! I get impatient with tech stuff and the app has so many layers to it. This is exactly what I was looking for!

@gourmetJo THANK YOU! I was looking at the bar graph the wrong way. This app has so many different ways to reach info, that this is why I love our forum as I sometimes don't go down the right path when looking for data. Merci, Tack!

That is such a cool feature, thanks @gourmetJo !

On a separate note, has anyone noticed Carv is trying to take a guess at what skis you are on? The other day we had a powder day and it correctly guessed I was on my Blaze 106. Since then, I have been putting Carv on my touring skis just out of pure curiosity, to see if it is able to figure out that I am going uphill. If so, I'd think it's not a massive task to guess that I am the DPS Pagoda Tour 90, since it is registered on the app, but it hasn't figured that out yet. It keeps guessing I am still on the Blaze.

It cannot tell the difference between my carving skis and my all mountain skis yet. Anyway, curious to see if anyone noticed this.

On the topic of instructor coaching and Carv, I agree that it is an incredible tool for improvement when paired with a good instructor. I went out with my seasonal group on Sunday, my instructor asked what we wanted to work on; I said turn closure (I have a feeling this is one of the things holding back other metrics on Carv for me.) He said sure, follow me and we went on to carve on an open slope. I really focused on following his line as perfectly as I could. I got my best metric yet for turn closure, and boom, best carving score of the season.

If I were a ski instructor, I would be all over Carv!

I saw the bar graph the other day and clicked on it ... but it ONLY showed a SkiIQ progress graph. I just updated the app after reading your post and there it is! Thank you for pointing this out...I've been wanting this ALL season!!!

Omg. My ski IQ finally improved today…. By 4 POINTS!!! I had almost given up this season because the score wasn’t going anywhere for a very long time. It had been impossible to get a better ski IQ for the longest time. And finally! Finally it moved up at last. I had to come and share

@JBM So sweet! Do you have any idea what changed and how you made the change happen?

While my own scores remain stubbornly static, I was stoked that my student's went up 19 points in two half day lessons. He was so incredibly happy as one of the early investors in the system, he is pretty tuned in to the metrics and process. All we really worked on was a narrower stance on the first morning and then a very rapid intro to carving as I noticed that he had not carved turn scores. I hope he moderates his expectations as that was pretty exceptional.

@snoWYmonkey I had been struggling with Starting turns with Grip training. (Beginning part of the turns in general) I'd read all the instructions and watched million videos but I just couldn't do it or didn't really understand it. But then one of the coaching said something like "Start a turn like you are pushing towards the back of the mountain."? I wish I could remember what she exactly said. But it made me feel like I started edging towards the back of the mountain before I initiated the turn if this makes sense... Then my ski IQ hit the highest and each segment had high IQs and carving sign consistently as well. I mean I couldn't believe it and can't stop talking about it!!

I also noticed that by starting the turns like that, I felt like my speed was more in control/ consistent rather than picking up the speed as I go down the hill. It was the best day ever! ONE STEP FORWARD

The prompt I got that sounds similar is to act like you are pedaling backward on a bike with the new outside ski.

I got some serious carving skis (Blizzard Phoenix r13 ti) that are 72 under foot. Of course, it's now supposed to snow for the foreseeable future. I shall not complain, but am interested in seeing if my CARV scores take a jump with the new skis. I might have to take a few runs tomorrow before the real storm arrives on Wednesday.

Curious "pushing towards the back of the mountain" - is that like "pulling your heels back"???
I wish I remembered what exactly Carv coach said. I am going to assume they are different sensations. Not for balancing or forward body movement. More like taking the time to start the turn? I am not an expert.... haha I will wait to see til our expert Ski Divas can chime in on this.

I was wondering whether I could pull the same score in my wider skis. Probably not... I heard Phoenix is a lot of fun! Hope you bump up by 19 points! LOL I wish I could!

That would be a miracle and I highly doubt it! I have sooooo many metrics I need to work on, it's quite overwhelming. I was looking at my husband's metrics, and seeing several 99%, 98%, and lower 90% scores, then the few metrics that were in the 70% range, I'm like, "at least you know what you need to work on, and it's not a laundry list!"

@contesstant Did you try your new skis yesterday? Did you notice any changes in your metrics?

Isn't it just fantastic when something "clicks"? I was working on smoother turns and "Demelza" recommended staying in the fall line a bit longer. All it took was a fraction of a second longer in the fall line in the middle of the turn and my scores shot through the roof. Suddenly, the "J" turn drill my instructor had me doing made all the sense in the world!

It is a wonderful feeling! I wish I remembered what the prompt said. But it almost made me feel like I am starting the turn backwards. It was a very uncomfortable feeling but my scores became significantly higher in each segment consistently. Whatever I did gave me better score in turn closure, turn portion carved, edging smoothness, and overall IQ. I am going back to the mountain today. I am wondering if I can do it again. LOL. I just have to do it over and over and over again until this becomes my new habit and forget the old habit.

Well I skied the Blizzard Phoenix today in quite crappy conditions and my CARV sensors would NOT connect despite showing some battery left so that was frustrating. But those skis…wow! Little sports cars! I only did two runs because conditions were bad enough I just wanted to be on my familiar Black Pearls, but I cannot wait to get the Phoenix out on a bluebird buttery groomer day.
