I Purchased CARV

A note to the rest of the group that the firmware for your devices also occasionally need to be updated and I couldn't figure that out until I canceled the pairing and repaired and then it asked me to update the firmware and then I was able to connect the sensors again to my app when I started skiing. Super frustrating day today. I was in a clinic and ended up doing really well and improving my skiing which was confirmed by the app and then promptly crossed my ski tips and fell on my face and ended up in the clinic. At least the app confirmed that up until that moment I was doing really well and had the best score of the season so far!

Just used carv for the first time this season--seems to be getting better and better each year (this is my 4th season). Improved, focused instructions and more real-time feedback options. And different terrain choices--just skied powder with it yesterday and it knew which runs were powder vs soft bumps--How does it do that? My only wonder is why they can't improve the AI voice--she is still really electronic sounding (and her calling me 'tiger' all the time is getting cringy (was cute at first)).

Have you updated the voices in your phone's settings? There has been an improvement this season, though admittedly it could still be better!

I agree on the voices and the “go get ‘em, tiger!”

The jury is still out for me. My first day of the season when I had no legs was my best. Go figure. Every time I try to follow the instruction offered, my score gets lower. Yesterday I had a 2 hour private lesson w/a Level 3 instructor so we could test this out. This is someone I know well who has been w/me for 10 years. We both thought we'd nailed it. BUT, the score was EVEN LOWER. I'm having a hard time figuring out just what CARV wants. We shall see.

I can relate. I've barely had the opportunity to test out this year's version to see how I do with it vs. last year.

How were the snow conditions? This still seems to be an issue where deterioration of the snow throughout the day can cause worse results later in the day too.

Could this be a factor of “breaking something down in order to build it up”? Like if you’re making small tweaks…do you nail those movements right away? Or could it be throwing other things out of focus? Then over time, as it starts getting more natural, it’ll start to “build it back up”.

Conditions were good for the mid-Atlantic, but it occurred to me later that he had me skiing with my top two buckles undone to make minute adjustments in fore/aft balance and my power strap was practically nonexistent. Duh. Sensors were attached to the loose, floppy power strap. The experiment shall continue!

That would certainly be problematic!!

I had the same we experience for the week I skied at Wolf Creek. My very first run of the season was my best, and although scores fluctuated up and down day by day, they essentially got worse as the day went on, and I never bested my first run score - and I worked hard at it all wk!

For the first 4 days of my season I was stuck at 128 for a high everyday… so annoying! But today for some reason I surpassed that on a lot of runs. Yesterday I was at 128 for carving, short turns, and parallel turns. Today I got to 129 parallel, 130 short turns, and 132 carving. I was pretty pumped and just happy to be back in the 130s. Obviously I want to get back to my 140 high from last season, but it sure feels like it will be harder this year. I felt like I was skiing really well, and while jumping 4 points felt significant… 8 more points to 140 is a huge chasm. It was a really fun day though, and that’s ultimately the actual goal everyday. Hopefully I can keep improving my score too though. My 2 most problematic metrics, like last season, are still weight release and g-force. I think I got up to 1.4 g-force today from my seemingly terminal 1 g norm. The annoying thing is, I “feel” like there are lots of forces on me when carving but I guess not. Obviously I am missing some input to crank that metric up.

It seems to me that it ups the ante as I start to improve. I'll jump up several levels, and then suddenly can't seem to make a single correct turn, on the same exact run I'd been lapping. And then it keeps saying "you were only 2 (or 1 or 3) turns away from the next level." And that's it -- I'm stuck at that level. It's pretty frustrating, because it's impossible to figure out what suddenly changed (when I'm sure nothing changed), and how to improve. :frusty:

Each time u advance a level it gets harder to complete the turns right. U can see in each level what r the metrics and target u need to hit for the chime to appear.
Adding a pic of how it looks in one of my skills level
